Winless at home for first time since 1920!!!!!

Post by BGSU33 »

Jinks and company has BG on yet another dubious mission - going winless at home - and not even against a tough slate of games. We’re simply talking about 1 FCS contest and 4 vs MAC schools. Yet, we look destined to fall on our face in each and every one of them. BG has only had two seasons were it lost every home game. And they were all the way back at the beginning of the program back in 1919 and 1920, nearly 100 years ago!!!!!! But in those two years, BG went winless only playing 2 home games each season. Those teams played less home games combined than this year's team will play this season.

You start too many threads. Most of these rants can be confined to one thread.

Well, with only Toledo left on the schedule, BG is good as gold to go winless at home for the first time in nearly 100 years. Pathetic.

In defense of that 1919 team, it didn't have social media to give the administration a false sense of achievement.

And there it is - winless at home for the entire season....signed, sealed and delivered courtesy of a thorough ass beating from Toledo. How does that sit for value for those of us idiots who bought season tickets? We actually paid to see this all unfold.

The team is down and needs support, but season ticket holders are leaving... then the team wins and season ticket holders jump on the bandwagon. Seems like some season ticket holders are more casual fans than I thought. Kind of sad to see people jumping ship when their support is needed the most.

Got to say I agree with you. I've had season tix since mid 90's and saw some very good teams along with some pretty bad ones. This group seems to be " tending " toward the latter to put it mildly. Jinks had better have another good recruiting year ( will be interested to see how many kids commit next month. SUPER weakness on D line has led to the blowout losses we've seen in past two years. No rush on QB, plus NO ability to stop runs spells disaster. I'd like to know how many plays went for more than 10 yds last nite. One first down after another on consecutive plays gets old pretty fast.

In short, I plan to keep my season tix for next year. You guys can do what you want.:)

This is the way I see it. I go to games (at all levels) to be entertained. My season tickets cost $170. Looking at the cost as opportunity cost, I could have done a lot of things with that $170 that would have been more entertaining than sitting through the past two seasons. I wouldn't pay money to go "support" a film if I knew that it wouldn't be entertaining. Law of supply and demand would suggest that ticket prices should drop because of the lack of production on the field, we will see if that happens. I think that what this program really needs is accountability, not support. You can support this program in many ways that do not affect you or your family financially. The decision to renew my tickets hasn't been made yet, but for me personally, if I do renew it will be for entertainment purposes not for support. I do not support the product that this program is selling.

That's fair, Kruks1207. I will say, being a student, my tickets are free. Sinking $170 into this program would be a little different than scanning tickets that come free with tuition.

I appreciate your perspective. It was something that I didn't really consider.

It's your money, and you're free to do with it. I go to BG games to reconnect with some of the best times of my life. I plan to share my passion and fandom with my children when they are old enough. BG is not OSU, we will have up years and down years as well. Towards the end of Brandon's tenure and during Clawson's things looked bleak. It turned around and we won. When will happen again, who knows? I do know is I will continue to go to games.

As far as your supply and demand analogy, even when we were winning we had more than enough supply.

If I lived closer I might buy season tickets, but after these past two years I would be questioning that decision. I'm glad to donate to the Falcon Club because that is a donation, not a time investment into entertainment. That said I live in Virginia so season tickets aren't in the plan anyway.
