BG knocks off FGCU 83-80. Frye with the game winner with less than a second. They almost blew it. That was a quality win against an NCAA tournament team. FGCU was 70-4 when leading at the half under its current coach. Still think BG is one year away but this will be a fun year. Lots of talent on this team and will only get better when Lillard comes back.

BG freshman score 43 points.

What a win. The best kind to help a good team grow. We almost gave it to them with missed free throws and some terrible defense letting them drive right to the basket at the end.

Great win! Pretty fun environment down the stretch, too. I'm glad we could get a win over a quality opponent in front of a decent sized home crowd. Hopefully this will lead to some bigger crowds in the future. It sure would be nice to fill the Stroh up this year.

Now that our team is showing progress maybe Huger should think about making a call to Coach L. Let's see if we can get George Mason and Miami Hurricanes into the Stroh next year. Two quality opponents. Increase attendance.

The crowd sounded big time on that game-winning shot. Imagine when the place is full.

It's not just making the shot...it's having the balls to take the ball and get yourself in the position to take the shot. we haven't had too much of that mentality here the last few years. Nice to see that we have a guy...I suspect we actually have guys...who's willing to be that guy who takes the last shot

I thought the environment was ok but not what it should have been for the crowd, opponent and result. I really believe the students especially and most of the rest of the crowd was waiting for the wheels to fall off through the mid second half run. The noise picked up at the end for sure (and that was not 2,500 making it, maybe 1,800). Love to see 4,000 plus rocking the Stroh and I have a feeling this group of players may create those crowds. Great recruiting has brought in a nice combination of shooters, slashers and inside players - no finished products yet but great potential that are further along than I've seen in a long time for freshman and sophomore classes.

I don't care where they play them, if this season develops as I expect they will need to play them next season. George Mason would be a great get for a home and home but I think getting Miami (FL) in here would be near impossible. I believe our focus should be on the FGCU, George Mason and looking at the top 25 mid-major poll and start calling for home and home series.

We missed way too many free throws last night.

A great victory but we put ourselves in a position where we almost lost because we failed to convert free throws (23/33 is just under 70% - that is not good)..

Very impressed though that when we were down by 13, the team didn't give up. I think we've seen in the past where things would not go our way, and we would implode. Not last night though. Nice to finally be on the right end of such a close game.

That was a very good FGCU team we beat the other night. They were strong at every position and came out strong.

I'm not sure if we're a year away. Given the youth, we should be, but I'm thinking we could compete for the MAC East THIS year. Turner can be a premier player with more overall body strength. Kock is a high IQ player who will be steady and consistent - he has excellent court vision and can hit the outside shot. Plowden is a nice all around player who can handle, shot, board, and get up in the air. Nelly looks like he'll shred defenses. Gadsen didn't play much after being pulled for committing a very stupid technical foul. He did move very well and he gets up in the air very quickly.

Wiggens' low post defense flat out sucked, especially in the first half. He was a sitting duck on defense. He has nice offensive skills, but his overall game is soft. The team needs him to toughen up right now.

One funny note: FGCU played a guy who was 5-2. That's the smallest player I've ever seen walk on a D1 basketball floor.
