Doege runs it in from 2 yards out and we go up 17-13.

We get SO MANY unsportsmanlike penalties, especially after kickoff returns. I don't get it. We're so mentally weak.

You weren't around for Gregg Brandon teams. Those ones weren't even penalized this much ...

I loved that play. Tremendous fake. Also, I thought that unsportsmanlike call on the tackle of Scott Miller along the sideline was ticky tack.

Given the way EMU beat us last year and the progress they have made, a win would be encouraging tonight. Hope we can find a way.

We lose a TD to a penalty..again. It's the SD game all over again. Shouldn't there be some improvement from then to now?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

LOL. Coach Brandon was the coach when from when I was 5 to when I was 10. I don't remember much about those teams, but I don't remember any being quite this bad defensively.

Nice having a deep threat! Didn't have that last year. Doege is going to be a great QB.

I've said it before and I'll repeat it again: bad teams...and in this case, BADLY COACHED TEAMS find new ways to lose ball games. Seriously, you have a QB in a shotgun formation when it's 4th and inches? Of course the defense is going to run blitz and likely stop your RB in the backfield for a loss.

Just when you hope the coach is getting it, he does something that reminds you that he's a glorified high school coach -- and apparently always will be.

I said early in the fourth that EMU was setting up a QB keep on the counter. And there it was to more or less seal it. Out-coached again.

Final score:
EMU 34, BG 31

Suder missed a 29 yarder in the 4th that would have tied it...

Lots to improve on moving forward.

And this terrible season is officially over. For everyone defending Jinks: he returns a lot of talent next year. He will get another off season to develop said talent. If you see a great coach in him, there should be improvement in 2018 because there is no excuse for anything else.

If we're not at least 6-6, upper half MAC in both offense and defense, and in the east race come end of season, I think the case will be closed.

I'm ready for the off-season, for NFL playoffs, basketball, and hockey. BG football is done for the year. End of year review thread coming soon.
