Paul Haynes

Post by MarkL »

Out at Kent State. After five long long long years.

Good for Kent. Haynes crashed a program that was flourishing however briefly before he took over and at no point showed any indication he could ever move them forward. Frankly he probably should have been out two or so years earlier.

He was a strange fit from the get-go - Kent was a hot program coming off an outstanding season so they could have hired someone higher profile. Instead they went with someone with zero head coaching experience. Invite disaster and you can't be surprised when it knocks on your door.

Exciting times for them. If Kent's AD is smart he will find a coach who knows how to build a program.

Bruce Gradkowski is available. He stated he wants to become a college coach. Currently coaching at Anthony Wayne, leading the Generals to their first NLL title.

Sure...because if it's one thing our experience has taught the rest of the MAC is that you can't go wrong hiring a HS coach. :)
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

We aren't far from being Kent. Yeah yeah I know it's cyclical and all that.

Bad news for Mike Jinks, the only coach worse in the division.

The fact that he played for the Flashes certainly was a factor.

If college coaching is his I actually think Gradkowski probably would make an excellent head coach. But no way is he qualified for the gig yet. He's not even qualified for a d1 OC good yet.

5-10 years from now? Wouldn't be shocked at all if he became a high quality coach. Was a MAC start and had a long time NFL career with almost zero physical ability. That tells you he understands offense and QB play. And those traits could eventually translate into a good coach.

Long way to go still

Gradkowski was a volunteer asst. at AW this year...probably not going from showing up once a week for a high school practice to being the HC at Kent Read.
