Today's victory over da rockettes....

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Gives the Falcons as least a share of the MAC TITLE!! A win over NIU on Tuesday gives BG THEE WHOLE THING TO THEMSELVES! Ali Mann sprained an ankle and that's why she wasn't in at the end...but so many players stepped up. Carin, Liz, Kate, Kelly.....and beating da rockettes to clinch at least a share of the title with a season sweep?

Oh, one more win gives BG 20 on the year against 7 losses...with a very young team. To quote Gregg Brandon, "This was just a sign of things to come".

Smoke this, ut.

Ali Mann on the bench with a sprained ankle. So many players stepped up as the Falcons beat the Rockets, 72-71. BG sweeps the season series and clinches at least a share of the MAC West title, assured a top 3 seed at the tourney. BG will be the overall MAC Champs with a win on Tuesday at NIU.

Look's like Mann's injury is pretty serious strain...hope for the best!

Wow....4 starters are 3 Soph and 1 Frosh....this is getting real good!
Breaking Marshall's 12 game winning streak and rallying to knock off UT in one week. WAY TO GO FALCONS!!!!!

BEAT NIU! MAC CHAMPS!!!

According to Associate head coach Jennifer Roos, Ali will be healthy enough to play at NIU, but may sit out or play reduced minutes in anticipation of the MAC tourney. That's what I have heard from her.

wow i mean, i couldn't believe it..the WBGU guys lost their voices calling the last seconds of the game. I was jumping up and down, pumping my fists, and dancin' like a maniac! This is something we all can be proud of.

I really had the feeling that the ladies were going to lose their composure in the last few minutes. They just didn't seem comfortable. The Horne 3 was huge. Without it, the game is over.
This game reminded me alot of last year's MAC semi game versus MIAMI. Big 3 by Horne with a minute and change left to cut it to 3. Wenzel had one similar last year to cut it to four. Missed free throws by the opponents and then clutch performance by Kelly similar to Lindsay last year.

Win or lose, this game was going to be great for us becuase it had that Gund feeling to it. There is no time to play tenative or scared. Just play ball, and thats what the ladies did and thats how you win in March. KEEP IT UP LADIES!!!

Curt Miller does a very good job of keeping the ladies focused for 40 minutes. They don't whine and pout when things aren't falling for them and they don't get distracted or frustrated either. They really are a pleasure to watch.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Great point -- I think the veterans of the team who don't play as much have something to do with this as well. Kelly had her chance and stepped up big. I think they just feed off each other and get things done. If you haven't seen this bunch at work, try to get over to the Gund.

We were at the game and this group definitely doesn't get rattled. They just keep playing, and they win games even when they are not playing their best ball. I was thrilled for Kelly! She started the game (sang the National Anthem) and she finished it! They are a focused bunch. Hopefully they can finish the job against Northern in a couple days because they've earned it and I don't want to see them have to share their title with anyone! Flip you said it best ... this team is really a pleasure to watch! I saw on one of these threads that someone thought women's basketball was boring. They obviously have not seen the Falcons play!

We better be ready to play NIU....they are only 7-19, 4-11 MAC. We must take it right to them and not give them any hope of winning. This BG team has played too hard and busted their tails for anything less.
WE WILL BE MAC CHAMPS!!!

NIU is the ONLY MAC team with a winning record against the Falcons...and that is 12-11. Time to even up!

TOGETHER WE ATTACK! GO BG!~

I'll be in the chat room by halftime. I think Mrs. Freak may be getting tired of seeing me at the PC listening to games.
