This isn't rock bottom. We've got the coach and the staff to find real rock bottom. The only similarity between Clawson and Jinks is the 2-10 record in year 2. Clawson showed signs in both of the first two seasons that he could coach less talented teams, and keep them in games they probably shouldn't have been in. If anything BG is headed toward is a really poor man's Texas Tech. Which isn't good. Texas Tech will probably be changing coaches next year. Forget the 2-10. North Dakota and South Dakota are what Mike Jinks is as a coach. One of those games can be a fluke, not both.

According to this June 2017 SI article, 4.1% of FBS players transfer each year. I'm not sure if this counts non-scholarship players on teams or not, but let's assume it's only scholarship players. With 85 scholarships then 3-4 players should transfer any given year for a school to be average. Take it for what it's worth.

That's exactly how the rest of the MAC East teams feel about BG's program. As bad as they may be, it isn't a crisis. It's an opportunity to finally beat up on BG each year. Thanks to the Texas High School Coaching standout Mike Jinx.
Name one team that is dominant in the MAC year in and out for 10+ years. Hint, you won't find one any more. Teams may put on a 3-4 year run, but coaching turnover will get them, just like it got us. I remember the Brandon and Clawson days were we had one great season surrounded by miserable ones.

Ummmm......our rivals up north! UT's records for the last 10 years (including Bowl games), AND they have gone through 3 head coaches in that time frame:

2017: 10-2 (Bowl game coming)
2016: 9-4 (Candle took over)
2015: 10-2
2014: 9-4
2013: 7-5
2012: 9-4 (Campbell took over)
2011: 9-4
2010: 8-5
2009: 5-7 (Beckman took over)
2008: 3-9 (Amstutz last year)

So our rival 30 miles north of us has gone through 3 coaching changes, and maintained their football program each time!! Jinx in 2 years has absolutely buried ours!

Or how about Northern Illinois!

2017: 8-4 (Bowl game coming)
2016: 5-7
2015: 8-6
2014: 11-3
2013: 12-2 (Carey took over)
2012: 12-2
2011: 11-3 (Doeren took over)
2010: 11-3
2009: 7-6
2008: 6-7 (Kill took over)

So Northern has gone through 3 coaching changes and continue to maintain their program!

I guess the problem for me here is two-fold.

1. I don't think we've seen the last of the transfers and other departures from the program.
2. I have ZERO faith in our coach and his assistants.

If we had a program builder here...or an up an coming coach like we had with Urban, I would be relaxed as well.
