Eliano was a good guy, but this is the right move. A step in the right direction for the defense.

Nothing like being the fall guy!! Sorry Eliano. We all know where the problem with that football team lies; Mike Jinx. And he gets to keep his job and continue to steal a lot of money from the university.

Globe...you're a research guy...go find us a Midwestern based veteran defensive coach with recruiting contacts in FL, OH and PA.

Eliano must not have asked for a 5 year contract. Or he didn’t have an agent to convince Kingston to give him one.

Five-year contracts are standard for Division I head football coaches (which is why criticizing BGSU for the length of Jinks's contract is silly).

I'll stand corrected on this, but I believe the standard for Division I football assistants is an annual contract.

Is it standard to hire coaches without agents? High school coaches? Coaches who admit they are shocked that they were even a candidate? So why didn’t BG follow it’s search and go against the standard with his contract?

Do we have to turn every single thread into a bitch session about how Mike Jinks came to be here? Is there really any point in doing that

According to Wagner and Jordan Strack...the rest of the staff stays put, the new DC can bring along another assistant because they are now allowed to hire a 10th full time guy.

Maybe a QC guy with a really deep understanding of defensive line play

Well to fix a problem, a good place to begin is it’s origin. The hiring of Mike Jinks is the origin.

No one on this board is OK with the way the coaching search was handled TWO YEARS AGO. We aren't going to fire him this year...continuing to bitch, piss and moan about that isn't going to change that fact.

We're going to have to let this play out...a new DC might make that process easier

This is a good step.

I get the frustration with Jinks. But he has positive traits. He is here for another 3 years. Nothing says he can't grow into the role. Then the frustration is worth something.

I wish Perry Eliano well. Changes like this are never easy when the spotlight is on you. Football is a tough business. It's tough for the players and it's tough for the coaches because the results are all out there for everyone to see.

I hope and trust that Eliano will eventually land on his feet. When one door closes, another one usually opens. One example that comes to mind is Lee Owens. Akron sacked him years ago. But Ashland jumped on the chance to get him, and Owens is now killing it as a Division II head coach.
