Meh. There are different ways of looking at this. I still think the jury is out on Babers, to be honest.MarkL wrote:A Dino Babers protege is a good hire for anybody if you ask me.

We have a new defensive coordinator: Carl Pelini, the DC at Youngstown State. Former Florida Atlantic head coach. Experience at Nebraska. I like his resume.

Fantastic hire!! Former DC and HC. Just what the doctor ordered.

Some interesting stuff about him breaking a camera and alleged drug use as a head coach. Looks like he fought the drug use thing. AND the school even admitted he wasnt fired for it http://www.espn.com/college-football/st ... ident-says" target="_blank
No matter what I am all for second chances though. We are getting a former Nebraska DC

Pelini came to Boca Raton after serving four seasons as the University of Nebraska's defensive coordinator, a defense that was ranked as the best in the nation for a time during his tenure. In combined totals from 2009-11, Nebraska ranked second nationally in pass efficiency defense, fifth in passing yards allowed per game, seventh in scoring defense and No. 10 in total defense. Pelini's role in the Huskers' defensive dominance was recognized, as he was a nominee for the Frank Broyles Assistant Coach Award in both 2009 and 2010, and finished among the top-five each year.

Actually, yes. Talk to a number of Y'town area NFL fans and they'll tell you it's all Stoolers all the time. Kind of like Toledo folks being Lion fans -- only much worse (yes I dislike the Stoolers).Globetrotter wrote:Does Youngstown count as Pennsylvania?Flipper wrote:Well done, Globe....Flipper wrote:Globe...you're a research guy...go find us a Midwestern based veteran defensive coach with recruiting contacts in FL, OH and PA.

Yeah...Youngstown is pretty much PA...but I figure any decent coach that's spent so much time in NE OH has some serious PA connections
