From what I witnessed, Joe's longest punts seemed to roll a long way rather then fly a long way. That's not what NFL teams look for in punters.
Regardless, Joe's a great kid...smart as heck. He'll be fine either way.

Someone said he's nota good "directional kicker, reason you get rolls etc. is because you DONT kick directly to the returners.Redwingtom wrote:From what I witnessed, Joe's longest punts seemed to roll a long way rather then fly a long way. That's not what NFL teams look for in punters.

The reason I saw him getting punts with rolls was because he ran to the side and then kicked it low and it then rolled down inside the 20, etc.. No NFL teams kick like this.Class of 61 wrote:Someone said he's nota good "directional kicker, reason you get rolls etc. is because you DONT kick directly to the returners.Redwingtom wrote:From what I witnessed, Joe's longest punts seemed to roll a long way rather then fly a long way. He has a few different styles that he uses depending on the situation. That is just one of them. He can also boom the ball quite well with great hang time if needed. I imagine that the coaches determine which one they want him to use.Redwingtom wrote:The reason I saw him getting punts with rolls was because he ran to the side and then kicked it low and it then rolled down inside the 20, etc.. IIRC...the wind can be a bit much in BG. Going rugby style and keeping the ball as close to the ground as possible seems like a better strategy in those conditions.
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Davidson got an invite to play in the east-west shrine game.

Kinda disappointed he didn't get invited to the Senior Bowl.tiznow wrote:Davidson got an invite to play in the east-west shrine game.

Me too. I think he is a hell of a punter. He adapts his punts to the situation.hammb wrote:Kinda disappointed he didn't get invited to the Senior Bowl.tiznow wrote:Davidson got an invite to play in the east-west shrine game.
