I couldn't be happier about this. Always wanted the students on the opposing side when i was in school so we could be rowdy towards their sideline. Also, I'm tired of people asking why we can't get more than 500 people to a game when they see us on TV. Then i have to explain that everyone sits on the other side

Leave the band where they are and seat the students at the North end of the East stands, right beside the team entrance. Then the team is entering the field right between the band and the students. Sounds like a win-win.

Primarily based on our experience at NIU in 2002 the MAC made it a rule that the student section must be located behind home team bench. After ducking batteries and coins at DeKalb that game it was super sweet to pay them back the following year for the ESPN Gameday game.vwfalcon wrote:I have always thought it would be great to put the student section on the East side of the stadium all across the bottom portion and we could leave the visiting team on the East side to create a home field advantage. The noise created behind their bench could be disrupting and get into whatever team we are playing. Football is a mental game, you get em distracted chances are they don't execute. Advantage BG.

One thing not mentioned.
Update, and add more concessions stands on the East side. That will also help the game day experience.

My feedback was the band needs to stay at the Sebo, students moving is fine, but don't expect more or even the same amount to show up. Kids are lazy and won't want to walk that much further. Even if the team moves sides, we're not giving up our 50 yard line, west side tickets. Not going to look into the sun, face the wind and like to stay near the press box where the action is. Will need to do a lot to get the same vibe on the East side for a long-time fan.
