But having trouble with the pressure defense of EMU. Sounds like scouting report of last game's 4 th Q is spot on?

Another disappointing lose. We continue to lose to teams we should be beating. We cannot hold on to a lead. My observation after tonight and last few games poInt guard play has to get better . To many forced shots and turnovers. The ball isn’t moving to much dribbling at top of key players standing watching point guard dribble. Coach Roos and staff need to figure this out. Looking at stats pg 39 minutes 7 TO 0 pts. Last few games not much better.

Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
When the starting PG is averaging 3 ppg in the last 3 games and is shooting like 12%, isn't it time to get someone else in? This pattern of coaching goes back to the last 4 or 5 years. Hey coach, Sidney is in a slump. Find a replacement.

We could blame the officials, but they were equal opportunity bad all around.

Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
I agree with all of the above, especially concerning point guard play. I couldn’t help but believe that Lambert’s head was somewhere other than the Stroh Center. I was hoping that Roos would yank her for good after the first quarter, and give Kennedy Williams some much needed experience. Nothing speaks louder to a player than the coach gluing her butt to the pine for extended periods of time. Had it not been for the great play of Caterrion Thompson, the game would have been decided much earlier. I also noticed that Thompson was bringing the ball up the floor late in the game, because Lambert couldn’t get it done. We finally got some scoring from our post players, with Clare Glowniak scoring three points. I do feel more comfortable with Glowniak in there than Uecker, due to her strength and physicality. Uecker is NOT ready to be a starter in that position, but I’m not sure any of the post players are ready. We started out winning seven of eight games, and now we’ve lost four of our last five. A couple of seasons ago, we were 7-2, then ended up with only nine wins for the season. We are eerily starting to mirror that trend once again. We cannot afford to get comfortable losing games again! Again, I put all this on the coaching staff. It was so evident last night that we, as a team, are nowhere near being fundamentally sound. We make too many stupid mistakes. Fundamental soundness cannot be shaken by the opposition. OUR COACHING STAFF MUST BEGIN TO DEVELOP THESE PLAYERS IF WE’RE TO BE SUCCESSFUL!!! It’s not too late to fix this, but these coaches need to get their act together now! Curt Miller would not have tolerated this lackluster play! I truly believe that these coaches are neglecting their responsibilities to maximize the talents of their players to the fullest extent! I was very upset by what I saw last night, not only by the way we played, but by the way we were coached. EVERYONE SHOULD DEMAND BETTER! Now let’s make it happen! My rant for the day.

I liked what I saw in Caterrion and Glowniak. I feel Cecil and Santoro are total players. They work so hard defensively doing the little things deflections steals rebounds blocked shots. It is quite clear they struggle without them on the court. We are so close and just need the right adjustments.

Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
One last thought not sure what is going on with Rachel Meyers. I don't understand why they wouldn't try her at the pg spot. If I recall her frosh year she played there some. I know she is a smart girl and I am sure high baskeball IQ and can shoot the three.
Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
The minimal minutes that Rachel Myers has been getting this season seems to be a huge puzzle for our fans, especially knowing that she has been an occasional starter the previous three seasons. I'm not questioning her basketball IQ, but I really don't believe her ball handling, passing, and floor leadership abilities would make her a viable point guard at this level. I'm hearing a lot of questions about her lack of PT, but not getting many answers. She is a great shooter behind the arc, but we have a lot of those. I've always liked Rachel as a player, but I believe she may be a little too one-dimensional. That's not saying we don't have several one-dimensional players on our roster, as indeed we do. I agree that Cecil and Santoro are total players, and the more I watch Caterrion Thompson play, I believe she's moving into that category as well. So if any of you bloggers get any answers about Rachel Myers, please share. Otherwise, we may be scratching our heads the rest of the season.

Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
Not only Lambert in a FUNK ... SIX of 11 kids who played had ZERO pts! Good grief! TWO STARTERS with ZERO pts. !
You're not gonna win many games with this pathetic performance! Sad because EMU wasn't much better, except in critical rebounds! and, of course, Making FTs down stretch.

Re: BG/EMU tonight at the Stroh...
The players discussed earlier, Santoro, Cecil, and C. Thompson, have become my three favorite players. Each of them can fearlessly bring the ball up the floor, shoot the three, penetrate for a pull-up jumper, and take it to the rim and finish. All three are athletic, quick, and can rebound well due to their sharp ball awareness. Another thing I like so much about these three players is the fact that they can, and will, find ways to score if they aren’t left wide open. The key word here is “fearlessly”, as these three are the best on the team at imposing their will against the opposition. As a team, we are not blessed with a squad of multi-faceted players that can score in a variety of ways. We are loaded with post-up 3-point shooters and a young squad of post players that haven’t a clue how to compete in the paint. Class of 61, it pains me as well about seeing so many offensively anemic players on our roster. Santoro and Thompson are natural scorers, and Cecil can be if she decides to be one. There’s a massive difference between a great shooter and a great scorer. It’s high time that our coaching staff teach some of our shooters how to be scorers, and maybe we can get more balance on the offensive stat sheet. But I honestly believe our coaches do not have the ability to turn our good players into great players. I may be skeptical, but after the last three and a half seasons, I believe my skepticism is well justified!
