BG vs NIU

Post by Globetrotter »

Huskies are 1-1 in MAC and 8-7 overall.

Last ten games are WLWLWLWLWL. Those online tests that tell you if you are a genius or not tells me that they are due for a victory.

Their home attendance is 812 a game. That's terrible.
Wiggins should dominate. They have 34 total blocks all year. That's terrible. This is Wiggins chance to dominate. I expect 25-15. Get it Big Wig!
They do get lots of steals. We will have to handle the ball solidly. Lets hope Frye is back.

If we can hold on to the ball we will win. I would just try to get it to Koch and Wiggins as often as possible.

10 Eugene German 6'0 175 SO 15 starts 19.5p 3.6r

It's dollar day as well, so general admission tickets are just $1 until 5pm! Let's show up and support the Falcons!

That's the type of attendance a program will get when something like five generations have been born since they last BG team went to the NCAA tournament (assuming every 10 years is a generation). Think about that: unless you were born in the late 1950s or earlier, you probably don't remember BGSU EVER going to an NCAA basketball tournament!

Will BG be "celebrating" the 1968 team this year? I hope not. All it does is remind us of how bad everything has been for half a century (taking nothing away from the members of that team.)

In any event, I would not assume BG can win this game, even though NIU has a horrid road record. BG has not defended its home court very well since the Stroh was built. On paper, they should win this game...on paper.

I'll be there. Not sure if I'll try to pound the dollar dogs (and regret it) like I did last year. At least it moves the popcorn down from "ass raping you way beyond the highest priced movie theater" to "this still feels like a ripoff".

Seriously, it really upsets me that concessions at movie theaters are a bargain compared to BG Hoops...

I think Globe's attendance number was about NIU's home attendance. As bad as our attendance is I don't think it's close to that bad.

I'm sure that was NIU's figure that Globe used. Going into tonight, our average attendance is 1,680, with our highest home attendance of the season being the Florida Gulf Coast game, which drew 2,440. Still not a lot, but boy was that atmosphere fun. I only hope that we one day can get steady crowds around 3,000 at every home game. The Stroh can rock if it has people in it.

I think BG, the students and community, can conceivably hit a consistent 2500-3000 butts in seats again, but it'll take a winner.

I know I sometimes forget how long it's been since we were good. I mean it was just when I was in college where we were winning 20 every year...but I graduated 16 years ago. And it's been basically hot garbage ever since.

And you're right that fgcu game was fun. The ut game last year was as well. The stroh can be a blast when the team does well enough to get it half full. Eventually I hope they actually start to use that Frack money to advance the program...

Absolutely agree. I'm a sophomore right now, so that UT game was one of the highlights of my college career so far. The Akron win was exciting last year, and the FGCU game was exciting this year. I think it has to be the right combination of success, time of day (students are lazy and it kills me) and name of the opponent. Toledo will always draw here. And "Dunk City" as well.

I don't anticipate tonight's game being well attended. Hell, I have class until 7:30 so I probably won't even make it to any of these Tuesday night tipoffs, which is a real bummer. I'll just follow on ESPN3.

But I really hope that winning will draw people back to the program. I love this school, I love this community, and I love these players. They deserve to be supported. I just hope it happens sooner rather than later.

For what it's worth, hockey is averaging 2,041.

Which also really is much lower than we would hope for. The Bleacher Creatures are a bit upset with that number, and we are hoping that our winning team (#14 in the country!) will help draw people to that game.

I have the same reaction. Seems a bit low.

With just over 15 minutes left in the first half, we're down 4-3. Neither team has found their stroke yet.

At the under-12 timeout, the score sits at: 14-9, BG leads.

Dylan Frye hit back to back threes and had a highlight pass to Demajeo Wiggins, who also got an additional three point play. Wiggins is playing really aggressive... maybe he reads this site.

At the under-8, BG is up 20-13. We're moving the ball pretty well, and not thinking too much. We look pretty damn good.

NIU takes a timeout with 5:04 left in the first half.

BG is up 26-15. We're shooting well, although we have a couple of unforced turnovers in the last few minutes.
