Jinks sat down with the Blade for an in depth interview.
"We’re close... I think they’re ready to take the next step," he said.

I suspect he is right.

The next step will be as big as the defense allows which will be a reflection of Carl Pelini's influence.

Just go out, compete hard and win the games you need to win. We heard plenty of talk about lessons learned before the 2017 season and we saw what happened.

Jinks isn't dumb...Pelini was a good hire and he can bring some more experienced coaches with him.
I would love to see Jinks graduate from here with his degree in coaching...land a P5 gig and get paid. He has a kind of quiet dignity that's refreshing after Dino's bullshit show

Flipper preferring the NPR approach over the Whacky FM DJ Electric Light Show. Tickle me pink.

+1.
Jinks wasn't the right hire, but he's here and not going anywhere for now, so as long as he's the coach at BG I'm pulling for him. I give him credit for keeping his composure through all the flack that's been thrown at him and not lashing out at his critics or blaming others the way some might have. I'll always root for a guy who shows some class in the face of adversity.

Re: Jinks looks ahead to Year 3
Jinks lowest rated class according to 247, is 5th, and that was during a transition year. Babers best class was 7th. Jinks is a recruiting first kind of guy, and people who I have met him say he has an infectious personality. I hope in the next year or two we begin to see results like Western, but that will all depend on his growth as a coach.
For the record, I went to a coaching clinic in Michigan about 3 years ago, and PJ Fleck was the keynote speaker. After that speech I was willing to go run through a cement wall for that man. I can see why he had the success he did in the MAC.

Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach PE.
