Richuan Holmes
Anybody know what's going on with Holmes in Philly? He's been a DNP Coach's Decision for the last month or so. Has he fallen out of favor in Philly? I thought he had been solid off the bench for them.

He was also out for over a week with a really bad stomach flu. I figured maybe he lost some strength and stamina that has taken him a while to get back, and Brown moved on to a new rotation that didn't include him. Either way, he's been one of my favorite guys to watch in the NBA when he plays. His dunks are VIOLENT.

Would love to have him in Detroit....where the Pistons just threw everything they had on deck to get Blake Griffin. No cap left...ugly deals for guys like Jon Leur on the books and no pick in 2018.
F**k you, Stan Van Gundy.....you might actually be a worse GM than Dick Vitals was when he was coach/GM

I love Griffin when healthy, he's a star.Flipper wrote:Would love to have him in Detroit....where the Pistons just threw everything they had on deck to get Blake Griffin. No cap left...ugly deals for guys like Jon Leur on the books and no pick in 2018.

And I think they got him for pretty cheap given the fact he's signed long term and can be a bona fide star.
WHat I do NOT get is the purpose of the move. They improved their current team, but now they don't really have cap or draft assets to improve any further. And Blake Griffin alone is not enough of an addition to make them a legit threat to win the East, let alone dethrone GS. An odd way to "shoot your load" IMO.

Re: Richuan Holmes
Yep...only way this works is if Griffin stays healthy and they find a real PG or Reggie Jackson gets healthy (even then...he's not ideal) and then they need Kennard, Bullock and Stanley Johnson to develop. If Drummond and Griffin mesh...the kids develop and provide some kind of threat from outside...esp 3pt...they're good enough to go deep into the horrible Eastern Conference, but nowhere near good enough to threaten for a title.
They seem to be boxed into being a Conference finalist/semi-finalist at best with no hope for improving because they have no way of doing so

Re: Richuan Holmes
After sitting the past seven straight games Holmes played 6 minutes last night in a blowout win. I don't think he was sick or injured just a disconnect between him and the coach.
Re: Richuan Holmes
I was really hoping to see him on the Cavs. Clearly Philly doesn't value him and his skillset would be perfect in Cleveland
Re: Richuan Holmes
When will Holmes be a free agent. It is apparent that there is a riff between him and the coach. 6 minutes of playing time over nine games. In those nine games they've had 2 wins over 20 pts, a 16 pt win, and two blowout losses. He can't even play in mop-up duty.
Re: Richuan Holmes
The team that drafted him owns his rights for 4 years, so he's not eligible to be an unrestricted FA until after next season. Of course this year, and next, were not guaranteed salary. So it's basically a club option if they want to bring him back or let him go. IF they decide to not pick up the option I believe he's free to sign where ever he'd like.gmartin wrote:When will Holmes be a free agent. And again, I'd LOVE to see him in Cleveland.
