New 2018 RB Commit

Post by mbenecke »

This afternoon on twitter, 2018 3-star RB Raveion Hargrove from Trotwood-Madison HS in Dayton announced his commitment to the good guys. 247 has him as the 2nd highest rated recruit in our class. This is excellent news, as Coach Jinks will love to have another explosive playmaker in his backfield.

He also had offers from Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Kent State, Miami, Toledo, Ohio, and Youngstown State, as well as having mutual interest with Boston College, Cincinnati, Kentucky, Minnesota, and Rutgers.

I would say this is an excellent get for us. I hope Coach Jinks can keep up his hot start on the recruiting trail.

5'5" and 162 pounds. Let's hope those numbers aren't inflated....

Let's hope he plays with a chip on his shoulder in a similar way that Josh Cleveland does. He's 5'8, 176, but he's as explosive as it gets with the ball in his hands.

Hargrove may be undersized, but I trust the staff in their judgements on him. I think he will succeed in our system.

T-M is a good program that constantly churns out D-1 guys. I'd say if he ran for 1,700 yards and 21 tds there last season, he's got some talent, and his highlight videos are impressive. No one can tackle him. I'm not worried about his size.

He also ran for over 3,000 (!!!!) yards in 2015, one of the best totals in state history. This is a big get.

Yeah, I saw that. He hasn't committed to us again, but he took an official visit and seemed to really enjoy it. This would be a big get if we can get him back on board.

He took his official visit this past weekend. Last weekend, he was Eastern Kentucky, and there are pictures of him in that jersey, as well. I hope he picks us, and I like our chances, but it isn't a done deal yet.

In the past it always seemed to be the last "official" visit had an advantage being the most recent impactful. Hope that happens with signing day just around the corner. Hope he doesn't have another visit planned this weekend. He was a highly rated player in the state.:)

He has definitely been holding out for a P5 offer before re-committing to BG. I can't say I blame him, really. He is a really, really good football player and he should feel slighted that the big schools have overlooked him because of his size. I'm really hoping that their loss is our gain.

Don't know if this will make any difference in his decision, but one of his close friends and former teammates (Caleb Johnson, who also had an offer from BG, apparently, but was leaning towards Ohio or WMU) was picked up after a pretty violent armed robbery outside of Dayton last week. They had visited a few schools together. Hargrove has BG, Ohio and EKU listed as his finalists.

Did you like watching Kareem Hunt rack up almost 6,000 all-purpose yards and 45 touchdowns at Toledo? You'll enjoy @iam_ray22 at Bowling Green. Absolutely explosive with the ball in his hands. Falcons got a steal today.

Kind of strange pic of his announcement. He's got a BG cap on, but head is buried almost flat on the table. I'm assuming his mom and another relative on either side.

I think he was showing the audience the name of the school on the hat
