We don't accept applicants with only 6th grade diploma. Maybe you should hold off for when Candle is fired in 2 years.RangerRocket wrote:I’m in, I’ll coach you sorry ass buzzards how to beat the mighty Toledo Rockets at least once every 10 years or so.

Strack tweeted that sources have told him Jimmy Williams will be the new D-line coach. Not sure if Marcus White was let go or if he'll be re-assigned.

Williams seems like a really good hire.jpfalcon09 wrote:Strack tweeted that sources have told him Jimmy Williams will be the new D-line coach. Not sure if Marcus White was let go or if he'll be re-assigned.
Marcus White has been re-assigned to Running Backs coach, which we did not specifically have last year.

Williams' hiring was made official this afternoon. Still a few more spots for Pelini to fill.

In the meantime, how is your student-athlete grad rate? Maybe once every 10 years you guys can actually get to #1 like, oh, BG?

Re: New Assistants ?
Luke Wagner who was an offensive grad assistant has left BG to take a job back in Texas.

Re: New Assistants ?
There will be a vastly different looking coaching staff in place for 2018. For every coach leaving, I can't say I have any regret. There was no turnover among the coaching staff between 2016 and 2017.
That means every coach departing has some responsibility for taking a 10 win champion and sinking them to 4 wins and then further to 2 wins. Sure there are some good coaches on the staff, certainly on offense. I'm just saying I don't have any real attachment to them.
That means every vacancy can be filled by somebody who could potentially be a better coach and had nothing to do with the last two years. That's a good thing. Fresh blood, new ideas, new energy, perhaps better experience.

As a follow up, former BG RB Jordan Hopgood is replacing Wagner.

Re: New Assistants ?
Now that is a great hire. 4 years under Clawson. Hopgood played hard all the time, got better every year, and had no animosity toward Samuel or Greene when he was passed on the depth chart. That guy just played hard all the time. Excellent hire. He will be a great influence on offense

Reading LaMarcus Hicks will be DB Coach. Spent last two years at Jackson St and North Texas before that.

Another former Lions player. I do like the fact that we're amassing defensive coaches with NFL experience.Tony4BG wrote:Reading LaMarcus Hicks will be DB Coach. Spent last two years at Jackson St and North Texas before that.

Jinks mentioned today they have an offer out for one of the defensive position coaches but didn't elaborate. Suspect we'll hear something soon.
