If you go to huddle and see his highlights from his senior year it looks like he is probably a stretch 4.

It doesn't look like his game was drive and slash to the basket. More post and 3s. When did Wagner talk him up?

We watched him pre-game last night and he was unbelievable shooting threes. At one point he was 19 of 20 and had 15 in a row a couple of times!

Wow. Thanks for sharing. Shooting uncontested is one thing. Being guarded is another. So basically we will have about the same team as next year but this guy would replace Fox and is much better athlete.

I think he looks like a similar athlete but five inches taller.

I was at the game last night. It was a game we should of won. I like Huger, but when do we start looking at him rather than blaming the players only? He can say that they didn't play defense last night, but isn't that his job to get them to play defense?

If he can't get them to buy in and play defense at this point, you have to wonder about his effectiveness as a coach, right? He seems to be able to recruit great but they don't seem to produce and develop. I hope it changes.

And the team looked disoriented on that last shot. We had two timeouts and he chose not to use them. Instead he use them after we had the miss with one second left and then after we secured the rebound with less than one second.

This sounds as your critical of him for same things folks are after Roos' head. He's still playing with a very young team, though you'd think by now the young kids are more experienced. I still like what I'm seeing. We're not quite there at some critical times I.e. Some missed tips etc., but those things happen to all teams.
My biggest concerns evolved around some weak FT shooting at clutch times.

I think many of us Hoops "regulars" have pointed some fingers at various times throughout the season.

Yes, we're young, but you cannot use that excuse forever. Our key rotation right now is Wiggins (Junior), Lillard (Junior), Frye (So), Turner (R-Fr), Koch (Fr), Fox (Sr), Caldwell (So). Two of those guys are almost half way through their time at BG, and 2 of them are almost 3/4 of the way through their time at BG. One of the key freshmen was a medical redshirt, but it's not like the whole juggling classes with games/practice is new to him this year. And as many coaches have been known to say, by tourney time there are no freshmen. Youth is only an excuse for so long. And quite frankly if a coach is wont to USE youth as an excuse (not that I've really heard Huger do so) there are generally ample opportunities to bring in Juco transfers if that's what the program needs.

And yes, I've said many times this year that I question Huger's ability to motivate/teach. Lillard & Wiggins are improved players, but Frye/Caldwell have not really been much improved from last year. We need to see these players develop. And the complete inability to get the team to play motivated for 40 minutes is getting annoying. It's one thing to occasionally take a half off, but with this team it's every game. They either come out and play a good first half then fall asleep until the other team is back in the game for the 2nd, or we sleepwalk through the first half for a furious comeback attempt in the 2nd. I think FGCU was the last time (and only?) I can remember us looking engaged and energetic for both halves (and even that one started off rough in the first 5-10 mins).

In the end, Huger is going nowhere right now. He's brought in some talented players, we need them to develop. This season is looking like it's going to fall right around my expectations for the season. I wanted a winning record in MAC play and I wanted at least a game (preferably 2) in Cleveland. We still have a shot to pull off both of those goals. Next year is a big year though. We return everybody of consequence, and because of that there is not really a huge influx of talent to lean on. The improvement in the team will be almost entirely dependent on getting these guys better during the offseason. And in his 4th season, we should all expect a legit MAC title contender.
