Final weekend of the regular season. BG needs to earn one more point than NMU this weekend to get the #2 seed, Wildcats are home against Tech. Huntsville has played better the last few weeks and might pose a bit of a challenge. Still lots of shuffling to be had for the first round playoff matchup.

We head to Huntsville for the final weekend of the regular season for two games - one on Friday evening (7:07pm) and the other on Saturday afternoon (4:07pm).

The Chargers come in sporting a 10-20-2 overall record so far this year, including 9-15-2 in conference games. They've won 2 of their last 6, with splits against Bemidji State and Northern Michigan over that stretch. They were off weekend, but the last time they were on the ice, they were swept by Minnesota State, 3-2 (OT) and 6-1.

In the WCHA standings, they are tied for 6th place with Alaska Fairbanks, sporting 30 points.

Their top goaltender's (Uhelski) save percentage in conference games so far is 0.914, and his GAA is 2.90, good for 3rd and 8th in conference play, respectively.

My prediction?
Friday - BG 4, UAH 2
Saturday - BG 3, UAH 1

We need to sweep and hope Northern gets 2 points or less for us to take the 2-seed. I have a funny feeling that that is going to happen.

Go Falcons!

A nice place to visit in Huntsville: http://www.lowemill.net/.
Space and Rocket Center is #1.
There's also a a comic and popular culture expo at the Von Braun Center this weekend.
All is for the best in this best of all possible worlds.

Also recommend making the 1/2 hour drive to Decatur to eat at Big Bob Gibson's BBQ. . .

I've been there. They also have won several competition BBQ. My only complaint is the restaurant closes at 8:15 and the kitchen closes at 7:30 for final orders. So you wouldn't be able to go there Sat after the game. Game would be over around 6:45. You wouldn't make it there in time.

End of 1, no score.

D'Andrea gets the gate for a hit from behind. Which is an interesting call because the camera could see the Huntsville player's number the entire time. A replay would be nice, but apparently they don't do that here. They also don't show anything that happens after the whistle.

Scoreless after 1 period. Only 5 S.O.G. Come on. Shoot the puck at the net. This goalie is known to give up rebounds. I would fire away.

On the WCHA TV feed you can hear Ryan Vallon bleed through on the audio. And Uhelski is indeed giving up very tasty rebounds.

Not sure what the record is for SOG but I just watched Penn State vs #8 Minnesota. Not only did PSU whip the Golphers they outshot Minnesota. Wait for it. 61-15. 61 shots on goal!!! +46 on shots on goal. I've never seen anything like that.

Northern Michigan beat Tech. They lock up #2 seed.
