Had Christopher been around in 2013, I expect Elko would have been hired as HC and the Clawson influence would be strong to this day. Christopher also hired Orr. Orr didn't make the program any worse but he also didn't advance it one bit in all his years. And Christopher oversaw the Sebo Center and Stroh Center projects and the encompassing major donations.
Kingston bled orange and brown while he was here. He was far more connected and visible to the community than Christopher. He hired Dino Babers, who took the football program to new heights. He hired Jans, who probably would have won a MAC championship by now if it weren't for the situation. So there's some good. But his last two big hires utterly sank both the men's basketball and the football programs. So Kingston is a mixed bag. And then he bailed exactly as the writing was on the wall with the Jinks hire. I'm a believer in living with your choices, not running from them like a self-serving coward.
All in all I put Christopher above Kingston. I can't speak for anyone before Krebs.
I will not give Christopher credit for hiring Bergeron . If Christopher had his way, hockey would have been gone and their would have been no need for Bergeron. That said, I am very glad that Bergeron is here and I hope he is here for a long time. I was not a fan of Kingston at all, but Christopher was not any better. Christopher had little time for anyone except big donors.

Clawson deserves much more credit than Babers for our success. Babers left the cupboard bare for Jinks.

I don't follow hockey here that closely ( devote all my time to watching the Wings tank), but aren't you folks getting a bit worried that Bergeron is they guy who gets you to a certain point...but not beyond it?
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Not quite yet. We had a great freshman class this year. Many of the goals scored in the playoffs were from the freshman. We have two young goalies. We have another great recruiting class coming in this coming year. Bergeron cannot shoot the puck. He is not out on the ice committing the penalties. Clean up the penalties be more aggressive on the power play and just score on average one more goal game and this team will be a constant playoff team. I'm more worried about other programs hiring the coach away. At least the hockey program is drawing decent rowds and making it to the playoffs. You can't say that about either of our basketball programs.

Somewhat. But I'm not going to bite the hand that feeds. I'll take where we are and all the progress made in a heartbeat over Paluch. Every day of the week.

In other sports we not making it far in conference tournaments. Basketball and football also not winning at a .650 clip either. It's one thing to constantly say we are young team each year and never getting better. In hockey we are young but at least being very competitive.

In addition to gmartin's comments, the current freshman class exceeded expectations by a lot (they were #2 in all of DI hockey in point production). Also, the coaching staff has demonstrated an ability over time to consistently mine very solid goaltenders, and right now we have 2 good ones. Also, given that we are unlikely to consistently bring in a flood of upper echelon blue chip players (the kids that go to B1G schools, North Dakota, BC, etc.) the coaching staff has done very well recruiting to the league we play in and the game style we want to play. We are also seeing guys leave early to turn pro which is another good sign of program health even though it stinks for the next year. Lastly, the quote from Miracle is spot on; this is what we've been doing and while it's not made us an elite program (yet), we are definitely relevant again on the national scene.
