There’s a 0% chance for an at-large bid.
Don’t forget that Sean Walker waited until the summer to sign with the Kings’ organization. It isn’t unheard of for players to wait for the next season before signing with a team (especially after “trying out” at a development camp).
We tentatively have a couple defensemen joining the team in the fall: Will Cullen (who had to sit out this year for eligibility/Clearinghouse issues) and Tim Theocharidis (who is coming in with some high expectations).

Drew, my understanding is that Cullen did not burn a year of eligibility. Is that true? I admit I'm not 100% sure how all those rules work.BGDrew wrote:We tentatively have a couple defensemen joining the team in the fall: Will Cullen (who had to sit out this year for eligibility/Clearinghouse issues) and Tim Theocharidis (who is coming in with some high expectations).

Correct. He’ll still have four years of eligibility remaining as long as he completes it in four years.TalonsUpPuckDown wrote:Drew, my understanding is that Cullen did not burn a year of eligibility. Anyone hear rumors about Barry heading south to take one of the open assistant spots? I wouldn't even view this as a lateral move.

Seems like Enrico is scrambling to save his job. Four out of five losing seasons in the NCHC and he throws his assistants under the bus.
I love people who can laugh at themselves. It saves me the effort.

Rico's got a contract through the 2023 season. It'd take a hefty buyout for him to go anywhere.

One wonders how long Miami and WMU will continue to just wallow in the depths of the NACHO.....Both would be top 4 teams in the WCHA. Home ice in the playoffs and easier access to the NCAA with a few good non-conf wins.Seems like Enrico is scrambling to save his job. Their decisions to join that league looks worse and worse after each season.......

For as long as it takes to find the $2.5 million required to leave.AZIce wrote:One wonders how long Miami and WMU will continue to just wallow in the depths of the NACHO.....Both would be top 4 teams in the WCHA. How long would it take the travel budget savings to pay for itself? The Alaskas are still subsidizing those trips, right?

Alaskas pay the cost that is over the longest league trip.rood wrote:How long would it take the travel budget savings to pay for itself? The Alaskas are still subsidizing those trips, right?
Simple example (not real numbers): BG to Bemidji costs $20,000. BG to Alaska costs $30,000. Alaska subsidizes $10,000. I believe Huntsville has a similar agreement.

Let's swap em for bemidji and Mankato. Not that the elitists down south would do that.
