One interesting thing. Robyn played her college ball at Davidson. Who do you think recruited her to Davidson? Fralick was recruited by our former coach Jennifer Roos, while she was an assistant at Davidson one year before Roos came to BG with Coach Miller. How ironic would it be that the coach whom possibly could replace you was a girl you recruited.

If you don't attend all the home games, you might have missed the fact the BG lost to Ashland in the '15-'16 season, 59-52. They introduced Robyn and said that she played for Davidson. A quick glance at the box score shows that Erica Donovan was playing then, along with Justinger, Myers and Lambert.
Santoro was a Freshman and our rent-a-player (they call me Ms. Tibbs) scored 16.

She credited former Ashland coach Sue Ramsey for building the program. She credited the players for being talented and bright, hard-working women. She credited the school and community for supporting the team.

"There was no rebuilding," said Robyn. "We lost the national title in overtime in 2012. We won it in 2013 (under Ramsey) when I was an assistant. It already was a special place."

Ramsey had a 501-364 record in 20 years at Ashland.

But 102-2 since Ramsey retired?

It's the fifth-longest in NCAA basketball men or women -- at any level. The UConn women have the two longest -- 111 (2014-17) and 90 (2008-11).

"It's insane, it's crazy," said Ramsey. "I know Robyn talks about all the good players she inherited, but she recruited most of those players. She was on the staff with me. She played a huge part in our success before becoming the head coach."

CLE Plain Dealer has QUITE an article on Robyn Fralick today (Sunday). Seems she turned down a D1 offer last yr. ( no indication which one) and sounds very content at Ashland which has been a D2 power for many years. Interesting fact. ALL her players ( less one transfer) are from Ohio, indicating a strong recruiting presence locally, including several solid traditional girls power programs,

Also Ashland draws between 1500-1900 in a packed house gun creating a super atmosphere, probably similar to Anderson Arena days.

The article I’m referring to is in Sunday PD so they may have added to original article because it goes into depth about meeting her husband etc.

That was the same article as Friday. It was posted online on Friday at 11:21. I just didn't feel it was relevant to mention her husband, how they met at Center Court with the lights turned off and how he proposed to her, etc. Regardless it was a very in-depth article. And he did mention the D1 school that was interested in her last year. It was Belmont University. I feel very confident that BG will approach her. Whether she wants to uproot her children is a different story. Elite 8 forAshland is tomorrow.

I wouldn't have interviewed her. I would have just hired her. Lol. It was a great article. And as I mentioned in another article how ironic would it be if she replaced coach Roos and Coach Roos was the coach that recruited her out of high school. Funny how things work out.

When quoting a newspaper article, proper credit should be noted. In this case, I believe the Cleveland Plain Dealer's Terry Pluto did the interview with Coach Fralik .

Terry Pluto is one of the best basketball writers to have ever graced the planet. He wrote the definitive book on the ABA (Loose Balls) and followed that with an excellent history of the early NBA (Tall Tales).

Well, we still have 2 weeks for the coaching application process to expire. I wonder who has, or will, apply to come to the frozen tundra that is BGSU?

They're going to have a blank canvas to work with, not that it's a bad thing. I hope whoever we get can coach as well as the teams I've watched in the NCAA's. Like Notre Dame, for example. McGraw lost 4 players to torn ACL's and still managed to keep winning. We need a coach to bring the glory back to BGSU basketball. I guess we need a crack recruiter with players waiting in the wings and I would prefer those players come from near NW Ohio or Southeast Michigan, say a line between Cleveland, Detroit, Fort Wayne, Lima, Columbus and back to Cleveland. Then, when they get here, I hope they have a chance to play and not be pulled out of the game after 8 minutes. I think winning coaches go with the players who are hot, not some evil rotation.

Anyway, here's hoping for a great hire and better recruiting.

I cannot handle one more season of the Syd Lambert one on one show. Hope the new coach brings in a real point guard. Unselfish, her selfish play rubbed off to the whole team. Hopeful it will get better.
