I don't believe I ever said I was disappointed with the firing of Roos. I think she's a great person and did a great job in terms of recruiting high-quality young women, being a very productive member of the campus and the community, etc. However, I totally understand Moose's reasoning for letting her go. If you're not going to extend her contract, you can't have her coaching next year. It would simply kill recruiting.
What I DID say was I'm sick of the TMZ "My girlfriend's cousin's best friend said that Ferris passed out at 31 Flavors" bullsh!t that some people seem to enjoy. A well-connected high-rolling Falcon Club donor predicted a press conference last week because Moose and Fralick allegedly were seen on campus. How'd that turn out? Maybe she'll get the job, maybe she won't, but I believe if there had been a press conference or a hiring, we'd have heard about it somewhere.
Also, maybe I'm a little paranoid because we've had coaching candidates back out before. In 2001, one of the candidates (can't remember his name, but he was the head coach at Emporia State during a time when they were very successful) was interviewed for the BG job, then backed out because word got out in Kansas that he was interviewing. BGSU wound up hiring its third or fourth choice for the job.
And yes, that third or fourth choice turned out to be Curt Miller, and he turned out to be a tremendous hire. Maybe the third or fourth choice during this coaching search will wind up getting the job, and maybe that person will also be a great coach. But, I'd love it if people would stop the rampant speculation and rumors. Since I appear to be in the minority on that front, I will now stop posting and let everyone share their "inside information" that they heard from their "connections" because they "donate $25,000 a year" and have "attended several women's basketball practices in the last few years". Happy Easter.
