Koch leaving hurts, but it's not unexpected. He has other values that are more important to him than starring at a D1 MAC School.

Some people on here really just need to relax. These players are more worried about their livelihoods than about the Bowling Green fans, and that's okay. They are people, and they deserve the right to do what is best for them.

Just relax, people. Some of you act like it's our way or the highway.
I love it!! The new guy is telling everyone to relax. Like a new Enron Board Member hired in the summer of 2001 – “Relax, we’ll be fine”. Sit through 15 years of this ineptness, watching the program get totally mishandled year after year, and then have a someone come tell you to relax. Its tough to swallow mbenecke.

I’ve been saying for years that this athletic department is a complete dumpster fire. The once proud football and woman’s basketball programs are now the door mats of the MAC. And the men’s basketball program has been given all the opportunities in the world to succeed with a brand-new arena as well as the all that Frack money, and the athletic department continues to misuse the Frack money and allow this program to wallow in mediocrity by allowing bad head coaching hires to continue to bury the program deeper and deeper every year.

And I have zero trust that Moose is the guy to fix any of it. He’s a face for the athletic department and nothing more. No balls, and no it didn’t take a lot of balls to fire Roos when she should have been fired 2 years ago. He will continue to allow these programs to be terrible instead of getting his hands dirty and discovering the avenue to ridding himself of the dead weights Mike Jinx and Michael Huger (and believe me, there is a way; always is). He’s already muffing the Women’s Basketball Search by not reeling in Fralick by now. A good, strong AD would have had her signed, sealed and delivered by now.

He does exactly what you want him to do by ridding the University of a failing coach (Roos) and then you blast him and say he doesn't "have balls". You're an anonymous troll online and you call someone out for lacking balls? He hasn't "reeled in" your choice yet? What if she's hired this week or a better option is hired...will he lack balls then?
Yes, I wanted Roos fired, but I wanted him to do that 1 year ago. Kingston should have done it 2 years ago. That program has been junk for 4 years now. It doesn’t take a genius to see a change needed made, yet they let her stick around all those years. And I say he doesn’t “have balls”, because he’s taking the easy, non-confrontational way and letting two unqualified coaches in Jinx and Huger stick around and allowing them to continue to sink each of their programs.

“Balls” would be to realize what many people have already realized, that they are not taking the programs in the direction they should be going, and having the fortitude to make the necessary changes, and have the willingness to turn over every stone to accomplish those “impossible” buyouts. You don’t knowingly let bad coaches stick around to make your programs worse. It’s a freaking embarrassment!!

And if he still hires Fralick, then great!! And if he hires a better coach (if there is even one, reading the posts on the Womens B-ball forum), then great!! But a lot of people would agree that Fralick is the slam dunk hire for the program with her roots and success in this area, and if he’s slow playing this, it might come back to bite him in the azz.

All I ask is he doesn’t hire the coach that NO OTHER TEAM is interested in, that that coach have some kind of head coaching experience, and that he gives him/her a contract that’s in line with their experience. None of those were met with the current Football and Men’s Basketball coaches, and both those programs are train wrecks as well.
BGSU has an HR department which has to go through the appropriate channels before a hire can be made public. It's quite common for universities and corporations to do this. A little research goes a long way. Moose hit a home run with Fralick and people need to totally relax - he's not Kingston.
The longer the walk, the farther you crawl.

2018-2019 4 scholarships available
1 Frye, Jr-Walker, Fr
2 Turner, So(R)-Fields, Fr, Guess, Fr
3 Lillard, Sr-Plowden, So, Seabron, Fr
4 Kulackovskis, Fr(r)-Uju, Sr(r)
5 Wiggins, Sr-Gadson, So-Ryan, Fr

1. Christian Guess-6-5 G. He is a stud and would make a huge impact. He might be going Prep
2. Dereon Seabron-6-6 G. He seems like a great player both on and off the court. Super explosive athlete and listed as a PG at 6-6
3. Tyson Walker-6-0 PG. Looks like he could be a legit PG who can run the show.
4. Ross Ryan-6-9 PF. He was injured basically all year but we need a big and his videos from 2016-2017 show an athletic big who can get up to dunk, block shots and when he gets rebounds his entire team trusted him to bring the ball up at times. We need a big and the other 2 guys I have listed are very raw. I would love to find another guy to go here or a can't miss at another position and see if Ryan would come on as a preferred Walk-on. His offers are not at our level at this time but I think his play could be. Gadson is the rawest of our freshman but Ryan could also play some PF if Gadson hits.

There is still talent to be had. I hope we don't foreclose on the idea that we need a veteran PG or go under on schollies. This team has proven it will play freshman and that it will give scholarships to walk-ons. It's time to take advantage of that. A guy like Thomas Hickman isn't getting much D1 love but I think he could be great. Same with Myles Belyeu.
Adrian Nelson would be a great get and it appears we have some interest. I'd replace Guess or Ryan with him. If you get him and/or Seabron you are getting these multidimensional long players who can play all over the court. They fit the idea of positionless basketball. You get a point and a C and the other 3 spots can go anyone. I think Plowden and Matiss will fit that as well.

2018-2019 4 scholarships available
1 Frye, Jr-Walker, Fr
2 Turner, So(R)-Fields, Fr-Seabron, Fr
3 Lillard, Sr-Nelson, Fr
4 Kulackovskis, Fr(r)-Plowden, So-Ryan, Fr
5 Wiggins, Sr-Gadson, So-Uju, Sr(r)
Nelson gone and have to add my 2 guys who I bumped into tonight after going through some other MAC offers.

I would stick with
1. Dereon Seabron-6-6 G. He seems like a great player both on and off the court. Super explosive athlete and listed as a PG at 6-6
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=714jYvoTb0Q" target="_blank
2. Tyson Walker-6-0 PG. Looks like he could be a legit PG who can run the show.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Ld0sB-SJ-E" target="_blank

And add in
3.6-4 Bryce Washington, Detroit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBDno0LM_Ws" target="_blank
4. Kaosi Ezeagu 6-10 Canada
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hFOPPLNNXAg" target="_blank

2018-2019 4 scholarships available
1 Frye, Jr-Walker, Fr
2 Turner, So(R)-Fields, Fr
3 Lillard, Sr-Seabron, Fr-Washington, Fr
4 Kulackovskis, Fr(r)-Plowden, So-Uju, Sr(r)
5 Wiggins, Sr-Gadson, So-Ezeagu, Fr

Then if you could talk Ross Ryan and Thomas Hickman into walking on.......

A lot of visits going on this weekend across college hoops. I am hopeful that we have some coming as well. If we don't fill out the roster this year I am going to be furious. 4 years in a row of just leaving an empty spot for no good reason. 2016-2017 will always be the most frustrating. Playing completely undersized for no good reason.

Why is BG having Junior Falcons during the middle of the recruiting period? So every Monday and Wednesday evening won’t be used for recruiting.

I'll be honest. Given it recent track record, and the suddenness of our openings, I'll be absolutely stunned if we actually did it the roster. I suspect Good Will get a schollie again, and wouldn't be surprised at all to see us somewhere in another open schollie to give to another walk on.

At this point it's plainly evident that this staff is a failure at constructing a roster.

If Mattiss and Gadsen can give us what Koch did and Laster and Fields can give us what Caldwell did we are back at status quo.

Today's Philadelphia Inquirer lists the All-Southeastern PA basketball team. On the 1st team is 6'6" Junior Forward Seth Lundy. The article on him says he is a 4 star prospect according to 247Sports. He has scholarship offers from BGSU, UConn, Oregon, & Penn State. He plays for 6A state champion Roman Catholic.

Nice. We have 10 offers out to guys for next year. Verbal commits has us with 9 but is missing Javin Etzler. These guys won't commit until the fall and many of the guys on our radar early end up very high majors ie OSU, Texas, Kentucky etc. I will do a thread later in the year for next year. I am hoping we have only 3 scholarships for next year. That would mean no transfers and we fill out our roster this year.
