Wilcox is transferrin
Probably not very surprising, but Matt Wilcox announced he’s transferring. Too bad another “ true frosh”is leaving after getting quite a bit of P.T.
It’s not similar to Koch in basketball, but both young players will be gone from BG after this semester.

In this case a change of scenery might be what this young man needs...then again, he could find that you can't run from yourself...
Good luck to him...

He sure had football talent.

Yeah....from Bowling Green City lock-up to Wood County Correctional Facility.

Re: Wilcox is transferrin
Can one transfer if off the team already? I guess so since he’s leaving BG technically. I’m guessing he bounces back to JUCO for a year or so then hopefully someone gives him another chance.
Re: Wilcox is transferrin
That kid does has some skills. He may have been a better track star instead of football. High Jumping seven feet will get you a scholarship almost anywhere. I don't like the trend BGSU is heading. Young talent leaving for other schools. Well if coaches can change at the drop of thousands of dollars why can't the student leave? NCAA has made it hard for the smaller schools which is totally not fair. If we start losing players due to transferring to other schools we could be in trouble. I could see this being a trend if we have nothing to offer the students but a free education. Yes that is a lot, but other schools have the extras!

He’s not transferring by his choice. He got kicked off the team and is dealing with a slew of legal issues. For your last point, there is not too many extras a school can offer or it is a NCAA violation. BG will never compete with the big boys.hiway44 wrote:That kid does has some skills. Indiana, Maryland, and Purdue would disagree.daspollak wrote: BG will never compete with the big boys.
We do it every season.
Re: Wilcox is transferrin
Depends how you quantify it. Under previous head coaches, yes, Indiana, Maryland and Purdue would disagree. But under our current head clown Mike Jinx, Michigan State (35-10), Northwestern (49-7), Ohio State (77-10) and Memphis (77-3) would all agree with daspollack. And using my examples above from the last 2 years, we don’t do it every season. We even lose to D2 schools, on our home field (South Dakota 35-27).Schadenfreude wrote:Indiana, Maryland, and Purdue would disagree.daspollak wrote: BG will never compete with the big boys.

You mean school. That South Dakota loss was the first in 30 years to a Division I FCS school (not Division II).CrazyFan wrote:We even lose to D2 schools, on our home field (South Dakota 35-27).
This has been a rough stretch, no question. But this isn't normal. Normal is competing for championships.

Schad.,
Good points. Amazing to me is how many folks don’t know the difference between D2 and FCS. That said, it still shouldn’t happen, especially on your home field.

Re: Wilcox is transferrin
It happened to Michigan when they were ranked in the top 10. It sucks but acting like we are this premier program is crazy. In my 15 plus years of following this team, they have the trajectory of a roller coaster. We have great peaks and bad valleys, just the way it is.Class of 61 wrote:Schadenfreude wrote:You mean school.
