Has this ever happened before?
Ken Morrow won an Olympic Gold and Stanley Cup in the same year. Rob Blake won a Cup with Colorado as a player and one with the Kings as an executive. Emerson has won as an executive. I'm sure I'm missing several others.

The St. Louis Blues made the Cup final in 1968 as an expansion team.

However, this is a bit skewed as the 6 "original" teams were put in one conference and the 6 expansion teams in the other. So they knew going into the season that one of the 6 new teams( Blues, Flyers, Penguins, North Stars, Kings and Seals) was going to make the Cup Final.

Both GMs will be Falcons. George McPhee will be joined by Brian MacLellan, who was his college teammate here at BG.

Other Falcons involved:
Ryan Carpenter (2011-2014), Golden Knights Forward
Todd Reirden (1990-1994), Capitals Assistant Coach
Mike "Doc" Emrick (1971-1973), NBC Play-By-Play broadcaster

This should be a great opportunity for BGSU to get some hockey exposure on a national level. Hoping for a hard fought series. Go Falcons!

BG just got some love from Emerick, including a photo of McPhee and MacLellan with a CCHA trophy. Carpenter has moved up to the third line, I think.

Carpenter seems to be playing the final minute of every period. He's also playing the penalty kill. And has gotten a little bit feisty since his time at BG.

Brian MacLellan and Todd Reirden are one win away from winning the Cup.
