Exactly. And sometimes you recruit guys that hit woman and sometimes you recruit guys that kick them in the head, repeatedly.

Some come with sexual assault allegations, and they do their thing and are now in the NFL. Some kids come with baggage, you provide them with the resources to make them successful, and hope they take advantage of them. I will only criticize coaches who overlook players digressions to find a way to have them play, so they can win. (Michigan State)

I think I can articulate exactly what my concern here is. Twice now this offseason, a player Jinks recruited after a 4-8 season got in trouble where he knocked someone to the ground and kicked the person while down. One was on camera and one was a woman. When someone is on the ground, they are vulnerable. It is over. Kicking someone while down is something you see in gangsta movies. Kicks to the head by someone as strong as a college football player can cause permanent brain damage.
Did Jinks lower character standards in order to win fast? He seems like a nice and likable guy so I hope not. Is the coaching staff not able to see character issues? One such incident can be isolated, twice looks more like an issue. Point is, I'm not exactly glowing about what I'm seeing right now. My criticism of the program on the field is well documented. Off the field is concerning now too.

Pretty simple to me, if you don't like what's going on then quit supporting the program. Vote with your dollars. Bitching on a fan forum isn't going to change anything.

Saying a coach runs a clean program is a pretty low bar to clear. It basically means that there are no academic or recruiting scandals.

Since someone brought up Jim Tressell, it seemed worth pointing out. We've never had a major NCAA violation here. Many programs can't say that.

I believe that list of programs with no major NCAA violations is about 15 or so. I read about it years ago and hope that never changes.

This is very important year as Jinks needs to start producing. 3rd season, 1/2 the recruits are his and system in place. He has to get it going now.
