Re: Any new verbals?
Holy cow, are all these juco players going to be on roster this year? Talk about filling some immediate needs. The 2016 recruiting class was a transition class and a quarter of the 2017 recruiting class is no longer with the program, so there are holes to fill.

Update here: His name is Jai Nunn-Liddell. 6'3" cornerback (nice to see some height!) out of Georgia. Redshirted at Troy before transferring to a JUCO. Here is his 24/7 page from out of high school: https://247sports.com/Player/Jai-Nunn-L ... ool-138353drumstix2388 wrote:JUCO cornerback out of Copiah-Lincoln just committed today, as well. Can’t tell his name because he goes by Hollywood on twitter, but regardless fills another immediate hole for the D.

Remember Nick Johnson in 2014? Great corner, great potential, but made an awful mistake and threw it all away. He had corner speed and skills but safety size. NFL potential as a true freshman.drumstix2388 wrote:Update here: His name is Jai Nunn-Liddell. 6'3" cornerback (nice to see some height!) out of Georgia. You could imagine why I am impressed with this guy. Let's hope he keeps his head on better than Johnson did.
Btw I've also seen him listed as a WR. Have to wonder if the door is open for either position. That would be good height for the receiving corps.

Grant Abbott, a 2019 Offensive Guard from St. Ignatius High School, just committed. He's listed as a 2-star guard at 6'4 and 270.
This is a quality get, from a local guy. Welcome aboard, Grant!

He’d be the first Iggy guy to verbal to us in many years. We’ve had several Ed’s kids, but very few from Ignatius.

Our first 2019 commit on the defensive side of the ball comes in the form of Jordan Anderson, a 3-star safety from East English Village Prep in Detroit.
He also held offers from Ball State, Buffalo, Central Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Iowa State, Miami (OH), Syracuse, and Western Michigan.
Welcome aboard, Jordan!

He’d be far from the FIRST commit on defense. Think several of the JUCOS are LB or DBs.mbenecke wrote:Our first 2019 commit on the defensive side of the ball comes in the form of Jordan Anderson, a 3-star safety from East English Village Prep in Detroit.

All of the JUCOs are for this upcoming season, though. Anderson is the first c/o 2019 commit on D from what I've seen.Class of 61 wrote:He’d be far from the FIRST commit on defense. Looks like a good one. I'm always a little cautious when a guy verbals to us over a P5 school. Hopefully and Campbell or Dino can't flip them.mbenecke wrote:Our first 2019 commit on the defensive side of the ball comes in the form of Jordan Anderson, a 3-star safety from East English Village Prep in Detroit.

Re: Any new verbals?
Good point: I wasn’t thinking about the JUCO actually being for this season. Even some recruiting sites seem confused as to the JUCOs status.mbenecke wrote:Yes, this is what I meant. ^^drumstix2388 wrote:All of the JUCOs are for this upcoming season, though. I thought Anders, Pate and Townsend were 2019 D commits....

Re: Any new verbals?
Anders is listed as a RB on 247, and the other two don't show up yet there. But yes - each of those players IS in the class of 19.Flipper wrote:I thought Anders, Pate and Townsend were 2019 D commits....
