Another football player arrested! Were in the lead!!

Another player from the BGSU Football team (or was brought to campus to be on the team) has been arrested. His name is Blake Veargis and he was arrested for shoplifting at Wal-Mart. He was a late addition to the team and got to campus in June. I assume he must be taking summer classes. You can search him on the BGSU directory and find him listed as a student.

On July 14th there is a picture of him with the business building in the back ground. Also on May 30th he announced he would be attending BGSU.

Maybe Mr. Briggs can do a little more digging than I have the time to do, but that would put us IN THE LEAD for arrests in 2018 out of all the programs. Great job Jinx! Way to recruit quality individuals! #firejinks

Maybe he wasn't on the roster yet, but he was brought to BG to play football. Why else does he have football coaches following him on twitter? Normal students coming to BG don't have the players and coaches from the football team following them. Why else does he enroll early? Im far from "baseless speculation" my friend. So he enrolled in classes and perhaps was interested in a shot at walking on. That is how I am reading it. Honestly this isn't a football issue.
1. He hadn't actually walked on to the team yet. He wasn't part of the team.
2. He was also probably barely in any communication with the coaching staff, nothing more than a "fall walk on tryouts are _____". If there were indicators of disciplinary issues, chances are they hadn't come out yet because the coaches had not yet met face to face with him.
3. He will either never be part of the program now or will have to work his tail off to get there. As is he is a student taking summer classes who got arrested.
4. Fall camp starts this week. And am I ever ready to start talking football again. The offseason is long and I am ready to see what a Carl Pelini defense looks like and how the returning offensive players have improved.

A quick Google search shows that he was committed to Georgia State in 2017 but it looks like he didn't graduate high school on time. BG recruited him then which likely explains why coaches followed him. If he's not on the roster then he wasn't brought to BG to play football lol.

This misinformation does more harm than good and I'm going to call people out when they choose to not bother with finding out the facts.

This is the impression I was given. He enrolled at BG on his own volition with hopes of trying to walk on.

Crazy Fan has his agenda and will try to find anything that can fit his argument whether it is a fact or not. We have a lot of that in our world lately.

My opinion is that Jinks wasn't the best hire, but he is here and not going anywhere and I am hopeful that the team shows improvement this year. There is no way we have the budget to fire him despite Crazy's desires. And Crazy, we can not hire coaches to one or two year contracts. If that is all we offer, we will not get good candidates to leave where they are to come to BGSU. We get it that you are unhappy. Constantly whining about it is getting old. I may need to learn how to block someone on here.

As I’ve said before, block me if you wish. It doesn’t hurt my feelings and will not stop me from being critical of a terrible coaching staff, led by a glorified high school coach who is in way over his head. I upset a couple people that wear the orange and brown glasses because the truth hurts and I bring light to negative facts about the program. I presented facts. The kid is attending BGSU. The kid enrolled early and came to campus early, before fall semester. Someone is allowing him to stay in the dorms. Not many students are allowed to move into the dorms months early, so it’s safe to assume he got some “help” getting into the dorms early. He is also followed by countless players and coaches on his twitter account.

Just like you jpfalcon09, I’ve also been told by a source close to the program that he had been working out with the team. So, if you want to believe that all of this is just a “coincidence”, and that he came to BG on his own, paid his own way, got put into the dorms in the summer on his own and then just happened to meet someone that introduced him to the football team, who then got permission from the coaching staff to allow him to work out with the team, then continue to enjoy those orange and brown glasses.

I don’t believe that all this is just a “coincidence”. Using the evidence and facts available, I believe he was brought here by the coaches to earn a spot on the roster. How else does he get into the dorms early? Why else does he come here in the middle of the summer? Whether he was officially on the roster yet or not doesn’t matter to me when discussing the decision making and recruiting of the current coaching staff, especially when this program has been riddled with arrests this year.
