So why not just make it orange? I have 30 or so BG shirts, most are orange, few brown, couple gray, zero white. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Now if they actually give away a shirt to everyone it would make sense.

I understand that. I also thought an Orange Out would be a great idea, because it feels like every BG fan has SOMETHING orange.

However, per twitter, there is going to be some type of T-shirt giveaway. It wasn't specified to be just us students, so I am hoping there are lots of shirts to go around for everyone, but I don't know if I would bet on it.

FWIW GUYS, just purchsd FOUR WHTE ( BGSU t shirts ) for $8.99 each from the U. Bookstore, one fo r my daughter and son in law ( non BG grads) as well as Joyce and myself. Only white BG I’ve had , not including the white cap I won at an alum event last year but never wore. Like you guys, I’ve got tons of orange, but I’ll get with the theme this time. And the price is right.

I believe the purpose of a white out is that since the away team wears white they could blend in with the stands. Penn State does it and the away team sort of melts into the crowd.

BG will be wearing their white uniform for this game so it's more of a marketing ploy than anything else.

If we ever half enough fans to confuse the opposing team I'll eat a bug.

If that happens...I'll eat Arby's.

(Switching on old guy mode) This reminds me of the 2003 MAC championship game against Miami. They wore white uni's for that one. We had the white tents set up in the end zone. We were driving for a score near the end of the first half (I think) when Harris lofted a pass into the end zone towards a wide open guy. Then a Miami DB emerged from the white background and intercepted the ball. We became a dispirited lot and lost.

What's wrong with giving this a try? Maybe it will develop into something. Sometimes I just don't understand the negativity around here.

What could it develop into? Legit question. BG never sells out football games, so the concept is stupid. A wall of white in Happy Valley looks impressive and intimidating. 12-13,000 people wearing white with exposed bleachers, empty chairback seats and the like will look silly. This reeks of the athletic and marketing departments trying to sell merchandise (how many of us own white BG shirts?) Stick to your school colors if you want to do something like this.

I would be shocked if the crowd is that small for the home opener. Our home openers generally do better than that, even for no-name opponents. In this case, we have the Big Ten coming to town. Attendance for Indiana four years ago was 23,000-plus.

I think a "brown out" would be more fun, but whatever. I'll wear white, even if it is after Labor Day. Let's do this.

When we hosted Indiana, we were coming off a 10 win championship season. That's not quite the case right now. I'm hoping to see the Doyt packed. Can't say I expect the same though.
