I was surprised we did not see a bit more downfield throwing. Anyone else sense that?

Jinks made it clear after the game that his goal was to run quite a bit. He seemed to think this would help guard against some defensive ends that were making him fearful. And, at times, those ends made Doege miserable.

Was this a case where Jinks didn't think we had much time for deep routes to break open, I wonder?

No time to throw deep. Their D-line was giving us fits. Plus risking Doege to blindside hits is another consideration. We probably could have tried a few more but Jinks may have thought it too risky given the opponent.

Where is the Freak? I’m pretty sure that Mike was out in Oregon for the game, curious as to his observations. Cmon Mike, impart some wisdom. :)

Just got back from Oregon to Cleveland at 6 AM today. LOL. Gotta love the red eye. Had to fly from Eugene to San Fran and then to CLE.

Game thoughts...Oregon fans are pretty classy. Lots of them thanked us for coming all the way out there and a couple complimented our O after the game, esp Clair and Miller. I will say this...it was as GREAT game atmosphere. Doesn't matter the score, the OR fans get loud every play when they are on D. Cool stadium as well. Sure there were a couple drunken aholes but, as we all know, they're everywhere.

We could torch MAC D units. OL was pretty decent most of the night. Still some growing pains there but if we stay healthy up front, I don't see us having trouble moving the ball and scoring except....turnovers...problem, again, with 3. We simply have to take better care of the ball. OR only out gained us by about 115 yards and both teams had 21 FD's. The problem with OR is they score so quickly and have BiG play capability.

The D...well, at least we were in the right positions to make plays and the tackling is MUCH better already. We actually look like we have a clue. Give these guys a few weeks to grow and they will be a decent unit overall. Love Kholbe Coleman as he is gonna be a BiG time player. Hassan Belton and Brandon Harris had great games. I mentioned to the Freaklings how this is the 4th DC we've had since 2013...basically learning a new system almost every year for the last 5 years. Yeah we gave up 500+ yards and 49 points (OR D had a pick six to start the 3rd and we gave them a safety on a horrible punt snap...more on the horrible punting in a bit). Oregon should win at least 8-9 games this year and IF Herbert stays healthy, they are a legitimate contender in the PAC 12. Overall, no question the D is better and will only improve.

Kicking game. Nice game from Nate Needham as he was 3-3 on XP's and made his only FG attempt. The punting? My God do we miss Joe Davidson. I am hoping it was just an off game and nerves for Grant Tinnerman. He had a bad game...period.

We had a fantastic start and then got buried in the 2nd quarter. Giving up that 4th and 14 TD pass was HUGE in the first. Held our own pretty well in the 2nd half as the OR O scored 14 pts. Not sure why Herbert was in the game well into the 4th other than getting reps since he missed half the season last year. No need to throw the ball THAT much up by 27 but oh well.

It was a fantastic trip and by far, the longest road trip I've ever been on...It was really sweet to see Autzen on game day.

I'd be happy it was say 21-10 and they pull away to 30 in the second half. If its 35-0 in the second quarter this is the same ole jinks team.
Agreed. People on here are talking up Oregon way too much in an effort to make ourselves feel better if we get boat raced. This isn't Chip Kelly's Oregon team. They're no better (IMO) than some of the Purdue, Mizzou, or Maryland teams that we've beaten in years past.

No, I don't expect us to win because our team isn't where it was in years past when we could beat those 2nd tier Power 5 teams. But let's not act like Oregon is in the same world as OSU, Clemson, or 'bama right now. They're a decent team, will win some games, but they're not a powerhouse. We should be able to be at least competitive for a half against a team like this. And I'd expect a win if we were the 2015 or 2003 Falcons.
Oregon will win at least 8-9 games this year. IF Herbert stays healthy, they'll contend in the PAC 12...which is not a the strongest conf out there. They also have 15 starters back this year and are a legit Top 25 team, but not Top 10.

BTW, Chip Kelly had a great start at UCLA, no? LOL.

Agreed. I was never trying to say Oregon wasn't a good team. They are a legit top 25 team. If Herbert stays healthy and develops towards the NFL player some think he could be they might be a legit top 15 team. But they're not infallible. I don't think they're competing for a playoff spot (although I'm not sure WHO in the Pac12 is really gonna run away with it, so they could I suppose).

Yeah, ol' Chip didn't have a good first week, and now he's gotta go against one of my favorite coaches in the country this week. They might get waxed by OU. IT's funny about those guys that leave college for the NFL. They return to college as guys who "were better suited for college anyhow", but I think the kids remember their failures at the NFL level. I don't think they do nearly as well recruiting and getting kids to buy in after they've failed on the big stage as they did before. Harbaugh is a good example as well...I thought he would bring UM back to a Big10 power, but they've been nothing but mediocre since his arrival.
