This is the best news BG Football has gotten since the MAC Championship trophy. Now, don’t let’s any Kingston disciples in the room for the next hire.

A good indicator that the program is a total mess, the players parents are retweeting the article.

Hopefully the source material from the boosters is accurate because it sounds like the decision has been made.

Could explain why he was so fiery this week at the press conference. Perhaps he has been told win or walk and now he is tired of salt being poured in a wound.

Not that having to read these articles is fun, but its nice to finally have a voice that's critical of BGSU Athletics when needed and deserved. It brings more awareness to the issues at hand and helps hasten the corrective measures that might need to happen. For to many years this past decade, starting with Orr and now on to Jinks, Blade and Sentinel writers/reporters have been scared or intimidated by the Athletic Department. Like John Wagner. He knew this entire thing was a train wreck, yet he chose to ask questions about hot dogs during his Jinks interviews.

Well, let me thank you again Mr. Briggs for being a real reporter and calling a spade a spade. Something the BGSU Athletic Department and all the fans of this program needs to read and hear. I agree with your article(s) 100% and hopefully your articles will help in some way of getting this once proud program back on track with some experienced leadership.

Maybe you next article should focus on the performance of the athletic department and some of the dead weight Kingston hangovers that its carrying. Its not really all of Jinks fault for that 0 out of 100.

It’s not just the Blade and S-T either CrazyFan. Jinks gets interviewed every Tuesday afternoon on ESPN 1065 The Ticket after 4:30, and the person who interviews him is just as bad as Wagner. Hell I think he is worst. Never asks a hard question, never questions Jinks, and somehow STILL thinks Jinks can turn this around and that firing him would be a bad move. I’m glad this came out tonight after listening to another uninspiring Jinks interview this afternoon

I think we've hit critical mass...there's so much negativity surrounding the situation, you just don't see a way to turn it around. I think most of us were hoping the Pelini hire would bring a stabilizing force and at least get the defense in the right direction, but that's clearly not happening..

I'm usually dead set against firing a coach in season...but the incompetence is so obvious that allowing Jinks to continue might harm the University's rep more than firing him
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

Great article by Briggs. He's typically been one of the only media members willing to call these teams out when need be.

I hope he starts writing similar articles about the dismal state of our Hoops program, as well. I'm sick and tired of everybody being ok with mediocrity. WIN.

My only question is who were the "boosters" he talked to. All of us would easily qualify as boosters, and I know most of us in this group don't have the substantial funds required to make a change. I hope that he talked to at least one "big money" type booster that could actually move the needle and have Moose's ears.

I'll always maintain that firing a coach midseason is nothing more than a move to placate fans, but does nothing to move the program/team forward. If they go that route just to keep us all happy, I won't be upset in the least, but I don't really see it as necessary. I just hope like hell they find a way to find a good HC to trot out there to open the 2019 season.

Laughable is the coach who cites two teams within the division as his examples for how he can turn it around. A big part of the reason they (Miami and Buffalo) went from crap to mediocre is because BGSU hired Mike Jinks. It's hard to be total garbage with Kent St and Mike Jinks in a division. Also, let's not let Moose totally off the hook here either. He was dealt a garbage hand from Kingston, but has relied heavily on Kingston's hand picked people for 2+ years. He rode Kingston's people right to this article being necessary.

Moosbrugger got here after Jinks was signed to a five year deal, but before he had coached a single down. Are you really suggesting Moosbrugger should have run Jinks off immediately?

Even if the money was available for such a move, I can't imagine any athletic director would have done it. Once Jinks was in place, he deserved a chance to show us what he could do. He has. And here we are.

I don't think guest44 is referring to Jinks. I think he's referring to some of the current staff in the athletic department that came with Kingston that was retained by Moose when he took the job. This is exactly what I was referring to in my previous post (and other posts in other topics). This athletic department is a mess, and maybe its time to clear out some of Kingston's dead weight in that department. A 0 out of 100 isn't all of Mike Jinks fault. A lot of that falls on the athletic department, and if Moose isn't the problem, who is??

I’m referring to a whole bunch of Kingston hires who have collectively put BG Athletics in a place where a conversation about anything within BGSU athletics not hockey is that of a laughing stock. Just take the twitter photo from Monday for instance. Hughes tweeted a photo of the reporter who wrote this article a day later. He took the photo standing behind him and posted it either fully aware of what was coming or totally unaware of why that reporter was at the press conference. In either instance why would you post it? Total lack of awareness either way.

Sure it is. We were MAC champion when Jinks got here. In three short years, the Falcons have become one of the worst teams FBS. I don't see how any of this is Moosbrugger's fault. He isn't the football coach and he didn't hire Jinks.
