There are other coaches on the staff. There are plenty of players on the team. The coach before him didn't do him any favors in continuing to build a program. There are plenty of other things the blame can fall to. Jinks will take the brunt of it - it comes with the job. But to say he is 100% at fault is a bit much.

Sure. But to try to make this about the athletic director, as some are now doing, isn't fair to our athletic director.mbenecke wrote:There are other coaches on the staff. Very true. Bob had nothing to do with the hire, as he came in after the hire was made.

@KitHughesBG. Look at the photo. Jinks on the far left, and Briggs the reporter who wrote the article on the far right. What purpose does this serve? If you were posting in support of Jinks just take a photo of the coach. Why include the reporter who a day later is critical?
Re: Attack Attack Attack Trainwreck Trainwreck Trainwreck
I think it may have been a little bit of cryptic shot at the media. Not in a mean way, just in a "we hear you, and we're still working" type of way. The athletic department isn't blind or deaf - they're fully aware of the noise surrounding the program. Kit is a smart and genuine guy, he knows the type of message he is sending when he puts it out there.
I'm not as notable on Twitter, but I'm always one to troll or send out cryptic tweets that could have many meanings. It's fun to stir the pot, even though it can be taken and run with by others.
The best response to the critics would be to start winning. Tough ask, but that's pretty much the only way to do it now.

I don't want to be mean, but this has nothing to do with anything.
Re: Attack Attack Attack Trainwreck Trainwreck Trainwreck
Your missing the point Schadenfreude. I'm not soley blaming Moose. I'm not soley blaming Jinks (and you all know that I hate Mike Jinks as a head football coach). I am blaming the Athletic Department as a whole. I am blaming people in the athletic department that were brought over by Kingston and held onto by Moose when Kingston bolted. This 0 out of 100 is years in the making. It's not only BG Football. It's BG Basketball. It's BG Women's Basketball. It's BG's gameday experiences. It's BG's marketing. It's BG's promotions. It's BG's fan experience. All of this stuff attributes to that 0 out of 100. Those ranking didn't say anything about soley being about just football experience. They are lacking in it all! And that falls on the Athletic Department. And if it's not Moose's fault, then it's other peoples fault. And maybe Moose should start bringing in his own people for senior atheltic department positions and get things turned around!Schadenfreude wrote:Sure. It’s a complete lack of awareness. The kind that gets you to the point where you celebrate beating Eastern Kentucky in football.

Alabama celebrates beating UL-Lafayette and Arkansas State. A win is a win, man. Lolguest44 wrote:It’s a complete lack of awareness. The kind that gets you to the point where you celebrate beating Eastern Kentucky in football.

For those who are unaware, we have the lowest budget for athletics in the MAC. Having lesser than desired aspects of athletics shouldn't be a surprise. Those responsible for fan experience do the best they can with the money they have.

We are aware. Since BG has the lowest budget in the MAC, it’s seems hiring and coaching contracts should be toward the top in terms of importance. So why pay Mike Jinks 25K extra to give up 63 points to Georgia Tech? Because the other MAC schools do?

Oh, I completely agree with that. The massive contract that was given to an unproven coach was a horrible decision by Kingston that has choked the whole department financially.

It's not all about money. It's also about being creative and innovative and dealing with the hand that has been dealt to you. I'm sure there are a lot of those types of individuals that would relish in the chance to bring on some change to an under performing athletic department knowing that they have the lowest budget in the MAC. I'm sure there are a lot of creative and innovative minds out there that wouldn't allow their athletic department to score 0 out of 100. It's all about finding the right people, and we clearly dont have them. Remember, some of these Kingston holdovers helped hire Jinks, they helped hire Ense (Swim Coach), they helped hire Jans. All these bad things we crucify Kingston over, they had a hand in!! And now we get hit with the 0 out of 100...........WoosterWarrior wrote:For those who are unaware, we have the lowest budget for athletics in the MAC. Re: Attack Attack Attack Trainwreck Trainwreck Trainwreck
Having worked in a major athletic departments, I can say it's a lot easier said that done to completely turn over a department. These aren't coaches with contracts. They are people that would need to be let go with just cause or risk wrongful termination claims. As long as they Moose's hiring of Fralick (and the move that lead to that) showed me he means business with bringing in good coaching. I've been pretty happy with him so far and think that he is doing what he can with limited means.CrazyFan wrote:I don't think guest44 is referring to Jinks. I think he's referring to some of the current staff in the athletic department that came with Kingston that was retained by Moose when he took the job. This is exactly what I was referring to in my previous post (and other posts in other topics). This athletic department is a mess, and maybe its time to clear out some of Kingston's dead weight in that department. A 0 out of 100 isn't all of Mike Jinks fault. A lot of that falls on the athletic department, and if Moose isn't the problem, who is??Schadenfreude wrote:Moosbrugger got here after Jinks was signed to a five year deal, but before he had coached a single down. Are you really suggesting Moosbrugger should have run Jinks off immediately?guest44 wrote:Also, let's not let Moose totally off the hook here either. He was dealt a garbage hand from Kingston, but has relied heavily on Kingston's hand picked people for 2+ years. He rode Kingston's people right to this article being necessary.
Even if the money was available for such a move, I can't imagine any athletic director would have done it. Once Jinks was in place, he deserved a chance to show us what he could do. He has. And here we are.
