Re: save-falcon-football.com
I thought I had seen it all... now we are blaming a political party for how bad our football team is performing... wow... just wow.
That easily has to be one of the worst takes I have read or heard. Do better.
If it's Jinks or someone else... for the love of God can we please prioritize recruiting some defensive line prospects.

STOP WITH THE POLITICAL B.S!!!!!
DO THAT ELSEWHERE.
DO THAT ELSEWHERE.
Re: save-falcon-football.com
Miami had a nice win over Akron yesterday....after getting clobbered in their first couple of games, the Redhawks have poised themselves and are now making a run at the MAC title. I think we too can do this next year with or without Mike Jinks.

The problem is funding. Who created that problem?

Re: save-falcon-football.com
Is the problem funding, or is the problem a misguided desire to "keep up with the Joneses?" Even when those Joneses have revenue streams that we could never dream of matching?
BG has never really been in a position to buy out coaches, but it also didn't used to be a financially crippling idea.
Urban Meyer was hired in 2000 with a $125,000 base salary. Jinks was hired in 2016 with a base salary of $420,000. Has our revenue tripled to justify more than tripling our coaching expenses? This doesn't even account for the crazy incentives he gets (like the much maligned boost for playing money game). I'm sure Urban had some bizarre bonuses as well, but I bet they're dwarfed by what Jinks has.
I don't think the problem here is funding as much as it is spending like we're Pacman Jones in a high end strip club.

All BG sports should have been endowed years ago. They started getting some of the hockey program funded by endowments with the Bring Back the Glory campaign. My personal opinion is they stopped far too short on that one. Even getting all the sports scholarships endowed would alleviate a large amount of budget to improve other areas.hammb wrote:

And hoops is pretty well endowed (hehehehehe) thanks to Mr. Frack.
Unfortunately the steady revenue for hoops and hockey just allows the AD to take money away from them elsewhere and give it to football which keeps hemorrhaging money...and needs to write a giant check soon to have any hope of regaining legitimacy.
Re: save-falcon-football.com
I agree with Mark L. You should be able to promote facts about the dismal condition of our entire athletic department and the football program on this site. Jinks needs to go now! Other factors , I see is the AD department has too many family members working in the department that has no ties to winning. Take the politics out of that department and hire some people that’s not just BGSU grads. Its 2018 not 1970.
1: The AD put the non conference games together. Why play two or three power programs when you know you cannot win?
2: Yes we are playing these games for the money and I get that. Why not play the lower levels where we have an opportunity to win? Money is not that much difference.
3: By scheduling teams that are the top of their conference does little for the team morale. No player wants to go 1-3 or 0- 4 going into conference play. Players are looking to win 100 percent of the games. The AD Department is not. Totally wrong approach and culture should be changed going forward.
4: Football runs the entire athletic department. Fill the stands and it will solve your revenue problemss! How hard is that to rationalize??????

Spending more and taking in less. We have to spend what other teams spend to even pretend to be close.hammb wrote:Is the problem funding, or is the problem a misguided desire to "keep up with the Joneses?" Even when those Joneses have revenue streams that we could never dream of matching?

Re: save-falcon-football.com
An with this post and ridiculous website I am out until things on this board get better. Globe, yes funding for Higher Education is an issue, but not our only issue. Yes, we are in an arms (athletic spending) race we cannot hope to win but fight anyway. Yes, Chris Kingston screwed us HARD and left faster than Urban to Utah. Yes, Babers screwed the program just as bad with terrible recruiting in base level positions. No, Mike isn't working out here and I wish that was not the case. No, the failure of the program in the last couple years does not all fall on his shoulders. At some point the players have to MAKE PLAYS! No, this program IS NOT DEAD! This is a lot like the end of the Blackney era and we have done well overall since that 2000 season.
If you feel so strongly then look up the emails of the AD and President, send an email and vent your frustrations. But to do a "bitch and moan" website like this is MORE damaging than any loss we have had the last three years. The portrayal of the program pre-Jinks as rosy and without issues simply reeks of a spoiled P-5 fan base. I expect way more!
I know I will get crucified on here for this post and I really don't give a damn. If you think Mike Jinks at head coach is the only reason our football program and athletic department as a whole has issues you not only don't see the real problem, you are part of the problem.
I feel terrible for the steaming pile of bitchiness Grant's site has become.
So, until we can get back to supporting the Falcons no matter the score or record, I am out.

It's spelled "ridiculous"...I'm normally not a spelling Nazi, but someone calling someone else "ridiculous" while spelling it incorrectly has to be the pet peeve of all pet peeves
