They did a nice job taking away space in our offensive zone. And we miss McLain on faceoffs.

If someone falls down after Craggs thinks about them he gets a 5. I didn't see the hit, but none of his game misconducts last season should have been more than 2 minutes.BGhockeyfan94 wrote:
I dont think the Craggs penalty should have been a major. When the whistle blew for the net coming off, there wasn't even an arm up. The replay looked like it was shoulder to shoulder, and the only thing that might have hit the guys head was Cragg's hand. I don't get the call.
Sounded like their net had a really hard time staying in place.

Just arrived home from the game. Dop was NOT the reason we lost the game. Dop stopped a shot from a guy wide open in front of the net. He stopped a two on one break and he stopped the breakaway. They got the winning goal because the defense did not clear or control the puck after his save. All you can reasonably ask the goaltender in that situation is to get the first shot.gmartin wrote:I know Dop needs playing time but I think we win this game with Bednard between the pipes tonight. Would rather seen Dop play the Sunday game at home and Bednard play on the road.
We are playing 4 games in 9 days. You can not expect Bednard to play all four of them.
We lost because we were to inconsistent during the game. There were times that we controlled the game. There were many other times that we chased them around. We lost because we gave up 2 power play goals in 15 seconds of play while going scoreless on our power play. Bob Mo's goalie also was very good. He is a Richter candidate like Bednard is.
We need to rebound Sunday and establish home ice control.

I watched the interview with Coach Bergeron after the WMU game and he cautioned the interviewer about presuming this team was somehow different than those in the past (more likely to win these early games). He talked about how it was yet to be determined if they'd be consistent when having to go on the road several times in a row. And he was right in urging caution.
Even with this loss, I am still thinking this team has the potential to be his best so far at BG. Hope I'm right. He did have a team picked to win the WCHA a couple years ago, but they couldn't live up to the hype.

14 goals in the first two games was setting themselves up for a let down. Hopefully they have that out of their system now and realize they actually have to show up and play their game for the entire 60 minutes. Just like the past few years, they do that and they will go very far.Falconwriter wrote:I watched the interview with Coach Bergeron after the WMU game and he cautioned the interviewer about presuming this team was somehow different than those in the past (more likely to win these early games). Attendance was 2113. Hoping for another decent crowd next Tuesday night against WMU, and then I expect a full house for the Ohio State game next Saturday night.
Great team win tonight! I really felt like we dominated all phases of the game.

I saw that as well gmartin. I didn't know what to make of Mhurst after we beat them 8-2.gmartin wrote:On a side note, Mercyhurst tied ND on Friday, 6-6.

I noticed the student section did not sound as loud as previous years, but I suspect with our seats being in Section G the volume isn't bouncing off the glass the same. mbenecke, you're going to have to work on this.

Yup, it's definitely something we're working through. We didn't have an exhibition for experimenting this year, so we're going to have to kind of figure things out on the fly.
Gotta knock off the rust and get ready for next Tuesday with WMU. Go Falcons!

Good win tonight. Looking forward to our upcoming CCHA matchups. Those wins will matter if we find ourselves in an at-large situation.
