I'm certain he will land on his feet. If he wants to be an assistant somewhere in Division I, he will get an offer. He will be better for this experience.

Unless Texas State is run by bigger morons than we were, it's going to be a long time...if ever...before he lands another D1 head coaching gig. He ran this program into the ground....

My guess is Jinks goes back to Texas and rejoins TX Tech in some capacity.

Moosbrugger is addressing the media tomorrow, according to the Blade. Should be an interesting presser, for sure.

Hopefully he lands on his feet, because if landing on his feet is anything related to being a competent and good head football coach, he might land on his head. Good riddance. Don't let the gates at Doyt Perry hit your ass on the way out. Thanks for stealing millions of dollars from BGSU you con artist.

They clearly haven’t been watching BG football the last 2 and half years. I get that he is from Texas but they may be the only FBS program worse than us at the moment. Don’t know why they would want Jinks

The man just lost his job. Show some class. We are better than this.

Players frequently complaining about play calls, Doege looks disconnected from his teammates and a lack of organization overall. It's noticeable how many times the wrong player runs out on a quick package change only to run back to the sideline. It's a shame because Mike is a great guy, but this team was really poorly coached and that isn't acceptable for a program which has been perennially been one of the best in the MAC
Interesting points from someone on the sideline. I've watched all the games from afar, save the Ga Tech game which I watched in person. My observations are similar- we've had what 3 delay of game penalties out of deadball situations, including a TIMEOUT WE CALLED. Had one on Saturday after a kickoff.

Absolutely Schad.

Yes, he made a lot of money here and the results speak for themselves, but he's gone now. It was clearly time to make a change but there's no point in continuing to bash the man. Show a little human compassion. I'm sure he tried his best and anyone who's ever done their best and lost their job anyway would know how low he must feel today. I don't see the point in piling on now.

We've had so much negativity on this board over the last couple of years, I would hope we can switch gears and try to look forward and have some optimism for the good things that will eventually be coming to this program. I hope it starts this week. I'll be in Athens wearing the orange and brown and I think the Slobcats are ripe for the picking. They barely escaped Kent State last week and I'm betting our guys come out with a spring in their step and take it to them.

Still laughing at the Sam Wyche clip. Loved that guy!

Moosbrugger said at the press conference that no booster stepped forward with any donation, and that the athletic department is funding the buyout themselves.

Show some class. Jinks was a bad coach, but seemed like a good guy...or does "always a Falcon" apply only to winners?

This just reaffirms how bad things had gotten. Moosbrugger and others must have been cringing as the collateral damage was escalating -- so they pulled the trigger. These are smart people; they know that if you let a cycle let this go on too long, it just means it will take that much longer to pull out. I didn't see the game, but watching a coach put in a cold QB for a last second Hail Mary...after having called a time out that wasted (potentially) three more plays, likely was just about that last straw.

I recall a similar issue that led to the firing of a pretty darn good football coach at BGSU when I was a student. The game was at Miami and BG was inside the 5 yard line, behind 9-7. Don Nehlen (a former BG quarterback) and staff lost track of the down and ended up running a play on 4th down, instead of trying to kick a field goal for the win. Obviously, they lost that game.

That team, which was very talented, went on to finish 5th in the league, way below its talent level. Of course, after a stint at Michigan as an assistant, Nehlen was hired as the head coach at WVU and had a strong finish to his career, something I don't see happening for Jinks, because Nehlen had a stronger resume coming to BG and much more success while here.
