Hazing under Meyer at BG...

Post by Falconfreak90 »

Hey all,

Wondering if there was ever a hazing incident at BG when Urbie coached here. Some dude on Facebook was saying Meyer got in trouble at BG for hazing and BG swept it under the rug. Said it involved Jelani Jordan. He also said Urbie got a DUI that was reduced to reckless op. This guy was saying Urban's been in trouble or shady at every school and I was trying to remember if these incidents ever happened when he was here.

Anyone remember anything?

Thanks.

I can't say I've ever heard anything about hazing but that DUI may have some merit. My parents lived down the street from Gregg Brandon at StoneRidge and I do recall hearing about a coach getting a DUI but I didn't think it was Meyer. As far hazing I've never heard about it but lots of small things go on that nowadays would be classified as hazing.

I know he did some things that would be questionable by today's standards, but they weren't hazing. He set up puke buckets around the field and made the team run constantly when he took over to get rid of the riffraff. He made them work hard and train hard; many players left because of that. Today, somebody would fire a coach for that stuff.

I remember that as well...about 30 guys quit the team and we went to Missouri with 70 players and beat that SOB Pinkel 20-13.

Thanks guys.
