Would've been a great time to do a buy one get one, or something like that. Sure, the teachers would hate it, but if it puts butts in the seats for a weeknight game, it's better than an empty arena.
Okay, I'm an old fart who went to school in the early 1970s...and I cannot recall there EVER being a time when that ice arena wasn't all but filled for a game, weeknight or not. So what has happened to change things? I can't imagine myself as a college guy today who wouldn't still go to all of the athletic events I liked, weeknight or not.

I am sincerely wondering what's changed.
I'm not sure this is a BG thing or a college sports problem in general.

My daughter goes to Syracuse, and the athletic department set up an app in which students can check-in when they go to a game. Different games in different sports are worth various points which can be exchanged for prizes. The Duke basketball game may be worth 10 points, but Women's Volleyball v. Wake Forest might be 1000. There are also bonuses once you are there: send a picture in SU gear for extra points, etc. So, essentially they are paying students to go athletic events.

I’ve got a granddaughter scheduled to graduate from OU this Dec. Based on comments, she may NEVER have gone to an OU football game over her 4 yrs. it’s hard for me to fathom this, as I feel the same way you did about attending athletic events.
I went to BG in the days of Doyt Perry, Harold Anderson, Sam Cooper, Bruce Bellard so I rarely saw BG LOSSES in most sports. The point that current students not seeing winners (unless they go to women’s events) MAY have some truth, but the “ deal” that BG offers ($50 to student still in stands in 4 th Q) is kind of pathetic IMO, even IF the amount goes up each week.
The fact that NO one has won yet is telling.

There have been a couple good scoring chances off of turnovers on our PK when we clear (including the Baylis goal). Seems like Western's d-corp is struggling with this.

737 on a weeknight is pretty tough for people with kids. Even as huge hockey fans, had to skip this one for my kid, Orion. He wouldn't get to bed till after 11 tonight and there's no way were getting away with that.

Those all came from 3 minutes on Google.
No disrespect to current students...but there may well be more to do with all of the devices and social media -- but I'd argue what's available isn't better. Being at sporting events builds a bond with your friends and your school, and it provides person-to-person connections you cannot get by hiding behind Twitter, Instagram or even texting. Sadly, I think too many young folks have grown up without those personal connections, and it hurts their social development more than they realize. Not saying they're bad people or will be less successful -- not at all. Just saying I think those experiences make them more rounded human beings. And I have had this discussion with my Millennial nieces and nephew.

Radio says they're up 4-1. Apparently a couple players were ejected. I missed it.

These 2 wins over WMU were huge. Now let's split with OSU. 3 quality OOC wins will help come March. Need a split though with OSU

I didn't see what happened completely with the ejections, but I know Rauhauser threw what looked at first glance to be a clean hit at #16 on WMU. #16 then pushed Rauhauser into the glass, pulled him down to the ice, shoved his head into the ice, and stomped his stick in half. Craggs responded by pushing the guy into the boards. It was easy, because the guy was probably 5'6 and 100 pounds soaking wet. #16 was clearly in the wrong, and Craggs stood up for his teammate. WMU looked really bitter because they got swept.

Great win tonight. Awesome to sweep a solid opponent. Looking forward to the weekend.

From the replay, it looked like Rauhauser jumped in an attempt to avoid contact when the player cut him off. He had a lot of speed skating with the puck. Throwing a check was probably the last thing on his mind. His momentum carried him into the boards, and he was slow to get up. Craggs took exception to the cross-check thrown on the player (Rauhauser) laying injured on the ice. If the referee would've had his head outside his ass, he would have been able to stop everything that happened after that cross-check. But, you know they have to find a 5 minute major to call on Craggs. His 2 minute penalty that was reviewed earlier in the game makes this obvious.

Somebody needs to mail a copy of the rulebook to Andy Murray. As many explanations as he needed tonight, he obviously doesn't know much about hockey. Seriously, at some point a delay of game penalty is warranted.
