@/vs. Ohio State (10/26-27)
Re: @/vs. Ohio State (10/26-27)
For what I believe is the first time ever, John Buccigross (ESPN) has us in his top 10 list, slated at #9.

I hear what you're saying on it being way too early for PW watching. Agree up to a point. PW is a math exercise and finishing our OOC schedule at #3 gives us a punchers chance at this at large thing with respect to the math. Usually at this point we're #33 and having to count on winning the conference tourney before our first conference game. We'll get a better sense as to how meaningful those WMU and OSU wins are once the Nacho and B1G seasons get rolling. We need to be WMU and OSU fans the rest of the way and hope they offset the hit our RPI will take given the SOS situation we face in our league. And we still need to take care of business. Long way to go, but we're in as good a spot as we can be right now. Stay healthy and stay out of the box.

It also doesn't hurt that Bemidji and Lake Superior are rank very high currently in pairwise. Usually they are down in the 40s

Regardless of sweeps we will gradually drop in the Pariwise because of league opponents and some of them seem to still be looking of the rink.......
But, continually winning will eventually trump strength of schedule may take upper 20s in Ws.
Great weekend otherwise, attended both games. Sat near a couple OSU fans that said they the saying around OSU hockey is never bring a recruit to a home game. Thought that was kind of telling of that arena. 40% full at best no enthusiasm or energy in that building. Too spread out and few students outside of the band. Hard to believe that there were 800 more people on Friday then Saturday. You'd think they played in front of 800 total Friday.
Ice Arena was full and you could feel it on Saturday. Kind of quite for long periods of time 1st & 2nd Period. But third period made up for it. Students, hats off to you, you showed up and were well heard. Not sure if I like the behind the end-zone seating for you all yet but you've adjusted well. You've set the bar now, don't just show when a "money school" plays us at home, it'd be awesome to see you all there for Northern, Alaska, Tech, Superior & Huntsville. Same team, same effort, same exciting hockey. Be part of something special. Hope to see all 2,000 of you next Friday.

That's my point. They rank high, but have only played 2 non-conference games each. LSSU is 4-0-0, with wins over Merrimack (2-5-0) and Huntsville (0-8-0 while scoring 7 goals total). Bemidji is 2-1-1 with an impressive win and tie against North Dakota (2-2-1) and a split with NMU (2-4-0). LSSU has 4 non-conference games left while Bemidji has 6. The only somewhat impressive result from above is the win and tie against North Dakota (wins over Mankato and Minnesota, loss to Mankato). It's great to see those teams winning non-conference games. The WCHA as a whole is currently 15-23-3 in non-conference games. Take away BG's record, and they're 10-22-2.gmartin wrote:It also doesn't hurt that Bemidji and Lake Superior are rank very high currently in pairwise. Usually they are down in the 40s

Just gotta win, baby! Let's keep it rolling and aim high.
I think this team's ceiling can be as high as it works for.

So we kill and then tie OSU and they stay two spots ahead of us in the rankings......LOL.
I know the polls are meaningless as far as the tourney, but it just shows WHY college hockey had to go to the pairwise.......

I don't mind being 9th. Being behind OSU is a slap in the face. Being 9th may give the team even more motivation.

Was just coming here to post this. I know it’s earlh and makes no difference, but what the hell kind of sense does it make to have BG two spots below a team that annihilated them and has a better record.gmartin wrote:I don't mind being 9th. "O-H!" = Overrated hockey.
Re: @/vs. Ohio State (10/26-27)
BG could blowout every single game until the end of the season and there will still be at least one voter that will put an NCHC/Big/East team ahead of them because it's not possible a team from the WCHA is the best. They let people vote who barely cover the team closest to them, let alone know a thing about the national scene.drumstix2388 wrote:Was just coming here to post this. Yea.. and apparently Baylis' 5 on 3 shorty wasn't good enough to make USCHO's 5 plays of the week.......whatever.
Sometime you wonder if these major college hockey sites watch anything that isn't in the NCHC, B1G, or HE.
