That's an amazingly disingenuous response...Durkin brought Court to Maryland...he was Durkin's boy. Court's incompetence killed a kid. Durkin needs to answer for that.

Meanwhile... Dino "man he sucked" Babers has Syracuse sitting at #22 in the latest poll.

Yep, ranked for the first time in over 15 years. I remember some around here saying Syracuse was impossible to win at when he took that job. Seems to be doing better each season.

I was one. I thought VERY highly of Dino. Probably more highly of him than nearly anybody on this board.

I thought 'cuse was a place coaches go to die. A place that the fanbase/alumni expect you to bring national titles and heisman winners, but has been so irrelevant you could never hope to replicate that era. And recruiting that type of talent to upstate NY can NOT be easy.

Very happy to see Dino doing well there. Hope he continues. The man can coach. I have no idea what type of recruiter he can be, but I know he can coach.

I think it's getting relatively easier to recruit SU since they joined the ACC. Still have to go out of state for talent, though. Also, running the Dino offense indoors also works in his favor.

If you're a good offensive player who isn't quite talented enough to play at an 'elite' program, playing most of your games indoors and in the south can be attractive.

If he can string some winning seasons, a packed Carrier Dome can be so loud you can't hear the person next to you talking. . .

Maryland has a press conference for 3:30 today, likely news about Durkin's future. Again not advocating him as a choice but he'll be connected to the BG opening by proxy.

I just read a report that Durkin will be reinstated and is expected to be back for Saturday's game against Michigan State.

So... Matt Canada, while probably too expensive, is a very intriguing option, to me. He coached for 7 years in the MAC at NIU, so he knows the conference decently well. He graduated from Indiana, and he coached at Pitt, Wisconsin, and IU. Plus he's only 46 years old.

Canada is very likely out of our price range but also as mentioned before has left scorched earth everywhere he’s been.

Known for not playing well with others. Maybe that changes if he’s running the show, but I’ll pass.

Canada would be smart to stay in Maryland for the time being.

I called the Fralick hire before many people even started to Google her. I said from day 1, Mike Houston and I'm standing by that.

4-8 followed by 4-8 followed by 6-2 having beaten 1 Power 5 team with a winning record, all powered by a QB and defensive line recruited by another coach. Go, Dino!

Do you know the difference between a strength and conditioning coach and an athletic trainer? The athletic trainer that the "report" excoriated was the one there for 12 years. You said before that Durkin was at fault for bringing in the athletic trainer. They are different people in entirely different roles.

Attributing someone's death to another is quite an accusation; where are your facts? Some cover-your-ass report to find a fall guy (Court) to pin a tragedy on to satisfy the lawyers?

Court might have verbally belittled people but his conditioning program and his methods occur at 75-80% of the schools in America, mostly the ones that win. It was a tragedy that could have happened to anyone anywhere that just happened to occur at Maryland. But Durkin's a BG guy so he's clearly to blame. Why not run it up the chain of command? Blame the athletic director, the school president, the Chancellor, the Governor, the President, the Trilateral Commission, God Himself? Or maybe do horrible things just sometimes happen and nothing could have forseen or prevented them at all? Don't float that theory to the bar association or they'll make Rick Court look like a kindly church lady in their response.

Two things can be true at the same time: Mike Jinks was handed a bad program by Dino Babers.
Also, not unrelated, Mike Jinks was unable to improve the program.

Congrats to Dino Babers for his success in New York. I wish he had done a better job in NW Ohio.

He looks great on paper, a lot like the next Dave Clawson.

Quick question. Was Mike Jinks also given an $3000/mo allowance for his house payments and a $1000/mo car allowance like our former football coaches or was that figured into his 500k contract. If that is separate that's an extra 48k a year. That's an extra benefit for the new coach, especially a coach from a possible FCS school.

I did some researching on my choice. Mike Houston salary for the next 5 years is $375,000 a year. He also receives $125,000 for media relations, tv talk and radio shows and public appearances. So his base salary is $500,000. He is eligible for another $45,000 in bonuses for academic success and coach of the year. That's $545,000. If BG offers Houston a living expense and car expense, something JMU doesn't do, then his salary would be a wash. The only thing woukd be his buyout. As it stands after this season his buyout if he goes to a P5 school is $800,000 but is considerably less if he just goes to an FBS school. So the question comes down to if he wants to receive about the same salary to go to an FBS School.

At the Citadel he led the team to its first title in 23 years. He is 33-4 at James Madison.
