Akron
So there is a football game today. Akron 3, Bowling Green 0.
The Falcons look competent so far against a team that beat the Big Ten West champion.

Nice to see.

Kent, Central, Akron. Three games in a row. The three best defensive showings by the team.
Common denominators? One, bad teams. Two, no Jinks.
Keep it up, fellas.

I've been thinking much the same. This team looks different, and the Zips are a bit better.MarkL wrote:Kent, Central, Akron. Three games in a row. The three best defensive showings by the team.

Quintin Morris with a TD catch. Bowling Green leads 21-6. Best performance of the season so far.

Re: Akron
Pelini deserves a ton of credit for not letting these kids quit on the season, no matter the opponent. First winning streak since 2016.

Re: Akron
This looks like a different team, on defense in particular. And Doege finally got untracked, started looking more like he did earlier in season.Had 14 straight completions or so at one point. Made some big time reads and throws.
FIVE QTrs in row w/ no TDs allowed... pretty impressive... no matter who the opponent happens to be. How the heck did Akron beat Northwestern?

And how teams change so much during a season.
I am glad to see them get a couple wins late in the year, so the program doesn't have the feel of being in total disarray. Don't believe Pelini has done enough to warrant keeping him as head coach, but a new coach coming in might want to look at him as DC, if he's able to get a decent showing out of them vs. Buffalo in the finale. If they get trucked again in the last game, then we'll know much of this was probably about who BG played in these two games...even though there has been some nice improvement. I am convinced the right hire(s) can turn this around pretty fast.
