Carl Pelini has done just about everything we asked him to do. I'm impressed by what we've seen these past two weeks. The Zips beat the Big Ten West champions, but they couldn't even get into the end zone yesterday against us.
He deserves to be in the conversation for head coach.

Re: Akron
He's beaten two of the worst teams in he MAC this year. We seem to do this every year the last three years. Good for him and the team. They haven't given up.Schadenfreude wrote:Carl Pelini has done just about everything we asked him to do. I'm impressed by what we've seen these past two weeks. Conversation should be on finding the best person to lead this program going forward. Let's leave it at that...

Re: Akron
Put it this way. If Carl Pelini wasn't on the staff and had not been asked to fill in, do you think he'd be in the conversation for the job if he was still at YSU? That answer is no.

Re: Akron
Was at the game and we played great D. I know Kato Nelson wasn't at 100% but our D was dialed in. The offense rushed for over 200 yards.
After the season we've had, it was simply awesome to see the smiles on the players' faces running off the field.
Oh, and the announced attendance was over 17,000. There were probably 1,000 there tops.

I was also in attendance and I think saying 1,000 was there would be overly generous. In the first quarter my buddy made a comment about how empty the stadium was and I told him they would probably announce it as 17,000!Falconfreak90 wrote:Was at the game and we played great D. I was glad I made the trip. The offensive effort didn't translate into points until the 2nd half, but the defense played with the most effort for 4 quarters that I've seen all year. Yes, it wasn't against a powerhouse, but players for the most part were where they should have been and they were clearly playing hard. Looking at our sideline the entire 2nd half and looking at Akron's told a different story. It was nice to see our guys into the game and caring about winning. I hope it's something we can build on from day 1 next year.
What a difference when Andrew Clair is in the game. I doubt he played 1/3 of the snaps but when he got the ball he showed that ability we've missed since he's been hurt much of the year. The guys filling in have done a good job, but he's a difference maker. Pray he stays healthy.
Buffalo is a much better team than Akron in every way, but if BG gives the kind of effort they did on Saturday, it could be in an interesting game.

Totally agree with that.
Re: Akron
Went to game as well. Didn't realize until after game, BG only had 4 DL.
Clair looks fresh after missing 1 or 2 games. Nice RB rotation BG has and will have next season as well.
Sure glad Jinks recruited several WR with all the roster changes. Sawmiller played a lot!
Hoping BG finishes strong on Friday!!

Re: Akron
We'll see how this week goes. If BG puts up a strong showing (not necessarily a win, but a competitive game) I think Pelini should get a serious look. If they win, he should absolutely be in the final candidate pool. Whatever he's doing, the players seem to be responding.
Re: Akron
Andrew Clair actually missed nearly a month of action, as he got hurt against WMU on homecoming and then missed the Ohio and Kent State games. I think we probably beat Kent State if he plays.Tony4BG wrote:Went to game as well. Didn't realize until after game, BG only had 4 DL.

Even still, he's come back and been a force. I'm glad he's only a sophomore. Adding him in the mix with Rico Frye and Ra'veion Hargrove, in addition to spurts of Bryson Denley, and we have a very dynamic, explosive RB rotation.

Re: Akron
Changing the subject , don’t know how many were actually AT the Akron game, but they listed their “crowd” at 17000+. And we thought we had the corner on “seat stuffing”?
