BG vs. Loyola Chicago

Post by mbenecke »

Because I can't be there in person, I'm following along with the live stats in class. I'm hoping there is a great school day crowd on hand.

FINAL: BG 88, Loyola 74

Great game for our Falcons! Especially with dropping 59 points in the 2nd half.

Question that I hope someone can answer.... Which coach recruited the 2 freshmen who are starting.. and leading this team in scoring and rebounding?

I believe the answer to that is Coach Roos, but I don't know that for a fact.

It’s kind of what I was thinking. Joyce and I were talking about that, and I thought Roos might have been the recruiter assuming these kids signed in Dec., 2017.

Roos , and Curt for that matter, always seemed to be able to find some small school standouts.

Coach Roos recruitted McMillan, Hempling, and Palermo. Coach Fralick brought in Molly Dever.

Indeed, the 3 players were recruited under Roos' watch. However, there are several players playing a lot differently than they did last year. One includes the fact that our point guard is not holding the ball until there are 10 seconds on the shot clock as all the players are moving and getting open. Perry is stronger and healthy, Cecil and Glowniak have better control and Morgan is a better 3-point and free throw shooter than Carly. Lambert was 3-9 from the floor, but she had 5 assists and no turnovers. Last year, that was our offense. BTW McMillen made 15 free throws in a row, missed one and made 3 more. So, 18-19 on the season, 12-13 today.

Big difference.

They are fun to watch, but it's hard to tell how this will translate to wins once the MAC season starts. Kadie made another one of those under the basket reverse layups again today.

Go Falcons.
