Pelini has done a fine job given the circumstances. But let's be real. The team mailed it in on this one and didn't fight for 60 minutes. Not a good look for potential head coach Pelini. That nice two game win streak? Those teams lost today by a combined 59 points to teams not in the championship game. Also not a good look.
Not saying he shouldn't get the job. But I wouldn't feel comfortable handing the reigns to him without a thorough interview process with many qualified candidates who he beat in a balanced, fair process.

Are you saying you think Pelini is going to be retained? Or he is not going to be retained?
If it is true that somebody has already accepted the position, that sounds like Pelini. Which is a bit concerning if true. How many other candidates were interviewed? How were they interviewed if they have their own seasons to complete?

That he won't be retained.

Never a good sign when there's more suspense surrounding who's going to coach than who's going to win...

If someone's already accepted and it hasn't been announced...maybe it's Polian or Elston. ND finishes at USC tomorrow and an announcement could follow on Monday.

If it is Pellini then we settled for an average coach.

I imagine if it was him, it would have been announced either before or after the game...but we'll see.

Another direction to consider. If a hire indeed has been made, the agent is keeping it quiet. That could indicate someone who is currently not coaching or otherwise looking for a raise. Someone who has reason not to make noise.
Butch Jones? As a Cincinnati fan, that would be a great hire.

It's most likely someone who is coaching the final regular season game today, and would be announced Sunday or Monday. That's just my guess. The sooner it's announced, the less of this Carl Pelini ridiculousness we have to endure.

So far without knowing who it is, I have to give Moose some major credit for keeping it quiet. Often in coaching searches everyone knows the news every step of the way because agents chat in order to shop their guys around for higher pay. Moose has kept the agents under control.

Coach Pelin is a joke and has too much baggage to be our coach. We need a fresh start because we don't have enough quality D- 1 players to be competitive. Bring in a fresh new young coach with no baggage to rebuild the program. We will have to suffer through a few more down years. Call Freeman from Cincinnati and offer the job.
Coach Pelin, why take the names off the players jerseys? That is so old school! MOOSE call the Bearcats and get this guy!

I don't think this makes much logical sense.

I think Carl Pelini is not the choice and would be the wrong choice. I think it's a lower division guy. Other guys are probably waiting for better options and wouldn't have accepted already.
