Re: Scot Loeffler
Sounds like a good hire. Plenty of experience working under some big named coaches and big time college football. Was QB at Michigan, helped coach Tom Brady. Worked under Urban at Florida and Chizik at Auburn.

BG fired a coach mid season for him?

Welcome Lefty!
Re: Scot Loeffler
Very very surprised hired guy with no head coaching experience. At least his resume is very solid and someone at some point was going to make him an offer to be HC.

Re: Scot Loeffler
An Ohio guy (Barberton) who has a very strong resume, even if no head coaching experience. He's worked under some really well know and well-respected coaches. Here's hoping he has learned how to put together a strong program. Here's a summary of him:
Scot Loeffler is an American football coach and former player. He is currently the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Boston College. He was previously the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Virginia Tech, having previously held the same role at Auburn University under head coach Gene Chizik. Wikipedia
Born: November 1, 1974 (age 44 years), Barberton, OH
Team: Boston College Eagles football
Spouse: Amie Loeffler
2016–present: Boston College (OC/QB)
Position: Quarterback

Re: Scot Loeffler
His wife is a BGSU grad as well, and apparently he's still pretty clued in on what Urban is doing at Ohio State. Perhaps we'll see a return to that style of football.

Re: Scot Loeffler
This guy coached under Urban Meyer. Any doubts as to whether Coach Meyer might have given Moose an excellent recommendation on Loeffler? He was basically an assistant head coach at BC, so he has undoubtedly been learning how to be a head coach. On the surface, this looks like a very strong hire, even if this guy seemed to fly under the media radar.

Why are his offenses ranked so low statistically?

Re: Scot Loeffler
To be fair, his offensive numbers improved over time at both VT and BC. That probably speaks to not having the skill set currently in place to run his offense and needing a couple recruiting cycles to fulfill that need.guest44 wrote:Why are his offenses ranked so low statistically?

Re: Scot Loeffler
Fair enough. However, he was part of the 0-16 Lions if I’m not mistaken, and the fired Auburn staff as well.
Re: Scot Loeffler
According to ESPN, Boston College is 64th in total offense this year. In 2017, BC was 70th. In 2016, BC was 124th. So he's brought them up 60 spots in 3 years.guest44 wrote:Why are his offenses ranked so low statistically?
In 2015, Virginia Tech was 69th. In 2014, they were 86th. In 2013, they were 91st. So he brought them up by 22 spots in 3 years.
Improvement takes time, and he has shown the ability to turn things around at multiple programs.
