Urban was a WR Coach - we couldn’t get a P5 O or D coordinator then unless maybe from a bad program like Kansas. I’m more impressed with what I’ve read. Any leaks on the $$$ yet? Has to be close, if not over $1MM.

Temple's offensive coordinator doesn't flaunt the fact. But he's one of the best and oldest friends of football's best quarterback, Tom Brady.

Which makes a lot of sense. Because 36-year-old Scot Loeffler might be the college game's best teacher of quarterbacks.

“It was obvious this guy was gonna be a great coach someday,” said his former college coach and boss, retired Michigan coach Lloyd Carr. “It was obvious before he even graduated.”

Who cares if our new coach was on anybody else's short list, we're a MAC school. We take athletes and coaches that need the opportunity to run with it. How many coaches and players came out of nowhere to become something special in our conference? Take a breath and give the guy three or four years to prove himself.

Over the past two weekends I decided to attend coaching clinics in Cincinnati and Cleveland the past two weekends....During the 6 days of conferences I attended quite a few talks.

1-9 Assistants at Cincinnati, YSU, Ohio U, Auburn, Ohio State, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati St. Xavier, Marshall...

10. I saved my favorite speaker for last, because I can't share too much of the details, but I spent the most time listening to Boston College's Scot Loeffler. I went to all 4 planned hours of his talk plus stayed for the extra 45 minutes he went over on the last session. He basically opened up the entire Boston College playcalling philosophy and playbook to myself and about 15 high school coaches over the series of talks. One of his biggest focuses were automatic hot routes and simple read routes. Finally, the biggest thing I took away was he never once blamed a player for a mistaken read or bad technique while going through the game and practice film. Every single time he was frustrated talking about something, it was his fault for coaching it wrong or taking too long to explain a concept. I have talked to a lot of coaches and they all preach taking responsibility, but I have never seen a coach that willing to take every ounce of blame.

This is the kind of hire we should have made after Dino left. The tales of the now legendary stupidity and hubris of Chris Kingston will be passed on for generations to come. His name will be a curse....

Quick thought. His last two stops were both defensive powers - VT and BC. He has worked with two of the best DCs - Bud Foster and Don Brown. Loeffler appreciates defense. Fine by me!

This is an odd situation, but he is the starter. Being at the top of the depth chart is a pretty good reason to stay.

Some of those articles make me very pleased to have him here . The ability to understand offense, especially QB play, and teach it is Paramount to winning at BG.

Looking over the past 30 years or so the times we've been a winner have been when we've had elite QB play and offense. We need to return to that standard.

Doyt Perry used to do this ALL the time. Now, I am not saying Coach Loeffler is the next Doyt Perry...just pointing out how Doyt would never blame his players and always took responsibility.
