Globe,
Not sure why you’re so negative about our coaching hire. Loeffler seems to be a solid choice. IMO, The fact he’s not been a HC before isn’t a critical situation. Many of these hires seem to be naming coordinators. Every hire can’t be a former HC and other schools are proving this.

Great hire. Perhaps the best hire so far this year. Kansas State is replacing a legend with someone who may be even better.

Mike Jinks just landed as the RB coach as USC. Softens the blow of the buyout by quite a bit.

I didn't even think about that. Is it 100%?

I’d have to double check but I believe we still owe him the difference of his new salary to his old one. Say he makes $300k now, BG would owe the additional $125k or whatever his base was.

I think it's one of those ratio deals...we owe him 500k or so. If he makes 300k now, we owe him 200. If he makes 500k or more..we owe him nothing but a handshake and hopes for a bright future

Are we positive it applies to any coaching position?

Our good friend Tom Arth is the leading candidate for the Akron job.

I assumed he was making more as a position coach at USC then as a Head coach here.

Maybe it gives us enough to buyout some other people.

Or does USC pay him way less than normal knowing BG is footing most of the bill?

FWIW, the RB coach at Texas made $525k last year. Other RB coaches in the Big 12 made between $220k-$450k, but I figure Texas probably has the closest to USC salaries with the amount of money they put into football.

Jordan Strack shed some light on this on Twitter this evening. And this is massively good news for our Athletic Dept. Rather than paying Jinks's entire buyout they reached an agreement for $375k

I think we owed him north of $800k so this is a huge savings. Should be enough of a savings to help us get rid of Huger and find a new hoops coach as well.

Excellent news. BG owed Jinks $875K before any buyout mitigation so it's a big savings.
