Re: BG v Chuck Finley
After watching the second half I now feel much, much better about our chances of winning the G-MAC this year.

Findlay played last night and then came here for the 4 o clock start.....they were pooped by halftime, but looked sharp during the first 15 minutes.
Glad we won.

Re: BG v Chuck Finley
Watched the 1st half before realizing the game was already over. They were crisp in their execution in a way I have not seen BGSU be since David Greer was the point guard. Bending our defense to create open looks elsewhere and then draining open shots. He adjusted a bit and got more aggressive on closing out and they hit contested shots. Then they hit leading backdoor passes into easy layups. it was really good basketball to watch.
Too bad we weren't playing it.
I was assuming that they would be tired in the 2nd half and we could destroy them on fatigue - is that what happened? Did we actually make any adjustments? Early first half it was just post up isolations. Wiggins would bang, get a shot, get bodied during the shot. Not get the call, miss the shot... And rebound and play defense and not let it get to him.
But still - just why ARE we playing this offense? I saw us live against Norfolk last year (I live in the area now). We started with a ton of perimeter looks and attacking aggressive closeouts and then got away from that. This seems to be a common thread to the past few years. When we play aggressive, ball moving, perimeter oriented attacks, we score well, defend well, and have great energy. When we insist on feeding the post, everything bogs down, we play with less energy on both sides of the ball, our shooting and our scoring go to hell.
So why do we keep pounding the interior?
My first Falcon game was in 1976-77. I only vaguely recall those first few years. Just missed Cornelius Cash. But in my time, Wiggins is our best big. Not our best scorer or passer or defender - but our best rebounder by such a huge margin it's not even remotely funny. Like, our rebounding was SAD for 30 years. Joe Moore was our best rebounder from about 1980 - Wiggins, and he was 6-4 and 195.
So we have a real big. I get the temptation. But it's just not winning basketball.
