Re: Bemidji
I feel like its going to be pretty tough to climb the pairwise now. We only have 1 series against a team in the top 30. Most of the games left only hurt us if we lose, and dont help a lot if we win.
Bring back the glory!

This loss sits on the sholders on coach Bergeron and staff. To have an opportunity to be in 1st and put out this effort or lack of there of. Get it together for tomorrow.
Basically cut our foot off in pairwise. Nothings going to be easy

Remember last time BG entered the second half of the season this high in the Pairwise? Hopefully a lot was learned then.unfalconbelievable wrote:This loss sits on the sholders on coach Bergeron and staff. To have an opportunity to be in 1st and put out this effort or lack of there of. Re: Bemidji
It sits on the entire program. Really no excuse as you had the exhibition game on Sunday to knock off some of the rust. Last night screamed of a team reading their own press clippings and believing they can show up to win. Haven't won anything to warrant that attitude. The four losses they've had have essentially undone the 3-0-1 record against OSU and Mankato. Every game the rest of the way is going to be a must-win or else they're going to have to win the conference tournament to get in.unfalconbelievable wrote:This loss sits on the sholders on coach Bergeron and staff. You'd think we'd learn our lesson for the previous 3 seasons.
We essentially have to win 9 in a row to get in the same position we were before the puck dropped last night in Pairwise. Four on the road. Can be done, all depending on what team shows up. This putting ourselves in position to contend to league titles and NCAA at-large bids and pissing it away in the 2nd half is getting old.

Re: Bemidji
I feel it's really hard to get an at large bid in this league. The way college hockey is, games are almost always going to be close, and any team can win regardless of ranking. That doesn't help when all our remaining games are against teams not in the top 20, and its not realistic to win every single game in the second half. One or two losses against a low ranked team and there goes your pairwise ranking.unfalconbelievable wrote:pdt1081 wrote:Remember last time BG entered the second half of the season this high in the Pairwise? Re: Bemidji
Yeah at-large bids are tough to get when 1/4th of your games are against teams that finish the year with 5-9 wins. It’s better for BG Hockey though...if we’d have joined the NCHC we’d be bottom dwellers and Bergeron would have been fired 3 or 4 years ago. At least this way the program wins some games and is one of the 4 teams with a chance at a tourney bid every year.

Minnesota State made it last year as an At-Large bid............stop making excuses. We've lowered the bar on expectations it makes me

Re: Bemidji
Against teams better than LSSU, we're 5-0-1. Against everyone else: 8-4-2. We have a better record against the top 20 (6-1-1) than the bottom 20 (6-1-2). We can complain about conferences once we've exhausted playing to potential every weekend as a way into the tournament.
Re: Bemidji
You can raise the bar on expectations all you want.....it’s not going to change the reality that WCHA isn’t a good conference and the team has to be almost perfect every weekend for an at large bid. Extremely difficult to avoid upsets on occasion. Expectations are pretty high for a program that hasn’t won a piece of conference title since 1988.unfalconbelievable wrote:

. Stop settle and F**&^*(% expect more and you'll get more even as a fan.

FRIDAY
End of 1, BG leads 2-1. Shots are 10-5, BG.
Bergeron fired up along with the rest of the coaches. Bemidji being little angels tonight......

Re: Bemidji
Won the game in the first ten minutes. Bemidji played a good series and likely deserved a better fate tonight. BG fell 6 spots in the Pairwise. Elite programs don't struggle against ones they should beat. Have a feeling we'll look back at the loss Thursday and wonder what if.
