Countdown: 17 wins, most ever by Huger, 3 to 20
Huger's most wins in a year is 16. 20 wins is a standard good season.
We start the MAC schedule on the 5th. I will track as we get closer and closer.
WHO DEY!

Re: Countdown: 9 wins to 17, 12 to 20
Globster, I must piss in your Cheerios yet again.
BG is just above .500 against 332nd best schedule in D1, RPI-wise. Only CMU has played a worse schedule, vs. 346th.
On paper, the MAC looks strong this year, but as a conference it has played the 24th strongest schedule despite ranking 9th. The SOS rankings are in bold below. Note the overall stank across the MAC. Notice 11-1 Toledo played the 266th best schedule. They could go undefeated the rest of the regular season and not get an at-large bid.
Kudos to EMU, who will likely emerge with a winning MAC record after getting getting around by the #13 SOS during November and December.

No one cares. All that matters is winning the games. This is supposed to be entertainment.

I agree I want them to win all the games on the schedule. And yesterday's game (like many on the home slate thus far) was entertaining.
However that changes when using win total to determine a successful season and or discussing whether to maintain the current coaching staff. Specifically looking at our OOC schedule I don't think we've had a successful year thus far at all. Beat up on some horrid opposition at home, which is nice, but played very poorly on the road. And it's not like the road competition was exactly Duke or Kentucky either.
The good news is that the OOC schedule largely means nothing for the MAC. If they can find a way to play themselves to 12 MAC wins this will be a very successful season. I don't see that at all likely, but we'll see how it plays out.
If they don't fare any better in MAC play than they have in past years I think you could make a case for this being Huger's worst season yet. No reason to not have 12+ wins against this OOC schedule.

Maybe the previous AD thought Huger meant more Huge and said "damn...we gotta hire that guy"
It's not the fall that hurts...it's when you hit the ground.

After googling to find the football coach you'd think he could work around the autofill feature.Flipper wrote:Maybe the previous AD thought Huger meant more Huge and said "damn...we gotta hire that guy"

Oar you becoming my favorite BG team since Matela-Pardon-Klassen-McCleod? That's what I was asking.

Remember losing? I don't. Roll along!
Re: Countdown: 3 wins to 17, 6 to 20
In looking at the schedule, I think men’s basketball should win these games:
@ Miami
@ WMU
vs. Akron
@ Ohio
vs. Miami
vs. Kent State
Then, the toss-up games are:
vs. Buffalo
vs. Toledo
vs. Central Michigan
@ NIU
@ Akron
The only real "guaranteed" loss I see left is @ Buffalo.
This team could realistically win 22 in the regular season if it wins all 6 of the gimmes and 2 of the 5 toss-ups. That's mind-blowing and awesome to think about all at once. That would be the most wins in a season overall for BG since 24 in 2001-2002, which we have an outside shot at matching if we have a strong showing in the MAC tournament.

Re: Countdown: 3 wins to 17, 6 to 20
How long until the announcement on a 5 year extension for Huger?
Re: Countdown: 3 wins to 17, 6 to 20
6 year extension in the works
Re: Countdown: 3 wins to 17, 6 to 20
NBC is projecting BG as their MAC champion (long way to go, we all know that) and is sending us out to San Jose to play as a 13 seed in a region with Purdue in the first game, then the winner of Iowa State and Hofstra in the 2nd game.
Obviously this season is far from over, but it's so refreshing and exciting to see this program get some national recognition. I hope our boys buckle down and stay hungry for more.
