CMU game 1/12

Post by BGMiner »

Been a weird game. BG up big early in the 2nd, then down 8 in the last minute. Up 1 in OT. 3:20 left

What a great road win over a talented CMU team! Such a crazy, back and forth 2nd half, where all hot/cold streaks found ways to even out as the game went on. Central started 0-13 from 3 then hit 8 of their next 10 to bring them back.

Turner was unbelievable. MAC POY performance down the stretch on both ends of the floor.
LONG LIVE THE MONGOOSE!!

It's 66-65 them right now. In the past I'd say here we go again.

OT lineup was Laster-Turner-Frye-Lillard-Wiggins

This team has depth!

Plowden and Fields start. Uju, Sierra and Mattis give good minutes.

We have a ton of Bigs but our rotation there is messy. (Which is ok, it's working) We only have 4 guards and they are all contributing with a pretty well carved out set of roles. (getting 2 guys in to play there next year should really help).

Great win. Keep them coming.

Watched the highlights...Turner was a beast in OT. This team looks like...a TEAM! I'm enjoying this and hoping it continues.

I realized something, and this could be wrong. But it seems like Huger spent years trying to find a true PG and wasn't successful. If we look at the positions as PG would be called the 1, and SG the 2, it seems like he gave up forcing PG on 1 player and instead is starting 3 players who are basically 1.7's. More 2's than 1's but they can handle the ball and distribute a bit and when you aren't forcing 1 to be the primary ball handler we have had more success. We are 7-1 since Huger put Plowden and Fields in the starting lineup.

Hmm wonder where all the negativity in the St Johns game thread went? As I said earlier this team just needed to figure themselves out, Huger is a good coach and sure enough this team found it right before conference play. Turner is absolutely rolling and this team seems pretty deep

Huger has coached differently. So the negativity went away. If he was coaching the same way the negativity would remain.

Regarding last time we had two first team All-Mac.

Pretty sure that David Greer and David Jenkins were in the 82-83 season (I was a ball boy that year :) ). Think maybe Antonio Daniels and Anthony Stacey in Antonio's Senior year? This is purely off the top of my head, and it's late, so I may be wrong on either or both counts, and it might have happened some other time.
